Once considered sleek, USC defense has suddenly sprung a leak

As an alum, and a huge fan, I'm more than concerned this week. If we don't fix the defensive problems and reduce the mistakes (turnovers and penalties) we could see the worst loss of the Pete Carroll era (more than 11 points). Our boys need to play their best game of the season as Oregon is at the top of the Pac 10 - or near it - in every offensive, defensive, and special teams stat. Playing in Eugene doesn't help either. I don't like to sound so negative but consistency hasn't been our strong suit this year. C'mon Trojans, prove me wrong.

Hard hitting with solid tackles by each defensive player will be a must in this particular game. It's no good to rely on gang tackling from fellow defenders anymore, especially with the hurry up no huddle Duck offense. Our defense cannot tire themselves out too early and thus cannot keep up in the 4th Qt. So forget about dragging on the ball carrier, and hoping to strip the ball. Just do the basic shoulder pad on the torso hit well everytime fundamental stuff.

Why all the fear and nerves?....USC will win by 2TDs..It's the Ducks that should be concerned as to how to turn around a 5 TD loss last season to these Trojans. There will be no intimidation just because of a rainey loud stadium.

I wouldn't call it fear but being real. As for not being able to make a turn around from the previous year, do you forget Washington already? How about Stanford 07? Or UCLA 06. My memory serves me enough to know we crushed all these teams the year before we lost to them. As the article says, we were up 20 and 19 IN THE 4th QTR the past two games and almost gave them away. No mistakes! or we'll come home looking to the Holiday Bowl, or something like that.

The only reason Oregon is in contention is because they are at home against USC. Oregon can’t win in LA anymore than Oregon State or Arizona can. Oregon State outgained the Trojans in the Coliseum, not because of USC’s weakness, as so many writers have written, but because of Oregon State’s powerhouse offense. Nobody is going to move the ball on the trojans the way the beavers did. How can a team be as good as the Beavers and not get any respect from the voters?Ducks will finish with two losses (AZ and either Stanford or OSU). Beavers will finish with two losses (AZ and USC). Arizona will finish with two losses (UW and USC). Trojans finish with one loss but get snubbed in NTG because the voters are stupid.

I think they are reading their own press clippings. Having been a SC fan for 40 years I don't know why this team and others in this era have been beaten by the likes of UCLA and Stanford when they seemingly did not belong on the same field.

The loss this year is like the others, from a team that should be playing girls field hockey. I don't go to the web sites anymore as these web monkeys will fill the forums with total Bull$#!^...about how this team has the best players, and coaches that ever lived. I love the Trojans, but they should be playing a lot better than they do before they start patting themselves on the back.
