From a football fan perspective, this game was a complete letdown even though I was rooting for Navy.

Yes, one could say that this was a great match up of defenses totally stuffing the offenses of the other team, and I guess I could see the point and admire the defensive slugfest.

However, from the perspective of a Navy fan at least, defensive slugfests are not what one expects from a Navy team. Scoring points and moving the ball has always been the the key to Navy and to the fans excitement and interest in Navy football.

For the 2nd year in a row, the Navy football coaches called the game as if they were uninterested in winning the game outright, but assumed that Air Force would do something to lose. Fortunately, Air Force did for the second year in a row.

Navy won....but if you were in the stands, it was a big let down. Why throw some passes when you can run 10 times in a row over the right guard and tackle for and average of 2 or 3 yards all day.

Don't know why Navy even substituted offensive players bringing in the plays as Navy ran one play all day so it was easy to tell the quarterback what to run. The incoming player probably just said "DITTO".

This would have been a good plan had Navy been gaining yards on the play, but apparently letting the upback handle the ball all game was the Navy way of increasing his stats a yard at a time.

What was worse, it appeared both Navy and Air Force coaching strategies for the game was based on "Let's not lose the game." This is similar to teams ahead close to the end of the game when they go into the - "prevent the win" laid back defense - with the opposite approach - bore the fans with unimaginative offense.

If Pittsburgh was a bad game for Navy, the Air Force game was the PITTS [pun intended] for all fans there or watching on TV.

One can only thank Air Force for again giving Navy the game.

One can only wonder about the game plan and its implementation by the coaches of Navy. Without the advantage of reviewing the game films, one must ask,

1. did the Navy offense actually come unprepared for this game? or

2. is the Navy offense this bad that they cannot execute? or

3. is the coaching staff so conservative and incapable of "on the field" strategy changes/adjustments to get the offense in high gear?
