Dolphins' rookie corner Billingsley turning heads

Will Billingsley's recent rise from forklift driver to Dolphins signee is the kind of cheesy story line sports movies like Invincible are based on.

So true. Finfans are so naive they have yet to wake up and smell Wayne's garbage.

After us Fin fans had to eat a shit sandwich last year, even a dirt sandwich would taste good this year. Thank God Camoron is gone, he might have killed this franchise for good if he was still here. Parcells is on the right track, get cheap young players for a year or two, then spend some money on free agents to bring the Fins to the next level. If we sign some of these free agents to cheap contracts it will do wonders for our salary cap next year. Does anyone know if Jake Long's $11 million a year pay count the full amount against the cap?

what is with you guys..(Mike and Shaggy)....have you become so jaded, so hardened, that you can't even let up a little and try, just try, to feel good about anything without having to try and bring everyone down to your .....what seems to be....a very low and pathetic level.....I think that your cynicism is but a mask for your very own low self esteem.......

I can't believe we didnt address corner back in the draft. I still dont even know what our defensive back situation is going to look like. Its like we are a franchise just starting out or something.

Its going to be Will Allen at one side and who at the other? Goodman? Lehan? And is Jason Allen really retaining the Free Safety spot? If so, who is our short safety? Yeremiah Bell? I heard he was selling real estate in Hoboken, NJ.

Whats the deal, Sparano??

"I ran a 4.33, on grass," said Billingsley, who is 5 feet 10 and weighs 195 pounds. "And by the way, it was on wet grass."

Nice. Let's see if he pans out.

They are not Jaded they are just Jet fans. Say what did Bernie Parmalee do before playing in the NFL? Oh yeah you wouldn't know because you are Jet fans. I could go on and talk about Kurt Warner and Antonio Gates but that would just give fans hope.
Fact is this writer is just doing a story about a player who has shown promise so that if this player dose make it he could have credit for it. It should not take away fact that players like this could indeed make it in the NFL if they are determine too do so.
Bootris, you are as pathetic of a fan as a there can be so why don't you join Mike and Shaggy and become a Jet fan. The team will thank you for it.

Welcome to the Dolphins boards on Topix. LOL Get used to it. Unfortunately, it's rife with fools, pessimists and Jets fans.

In other words, the losers of society. Don't let it get you down.

No, it's a franchise starting OVER. They can't wave a magic wand and make everything all better, ready for the Super Bowl next season.

Patience. Believe it or not, these people ACTUALLY know what they're doing.

I'm more a DOLPHINS FAN than any of you will ever be.

I once ran naked through a church during Sunday services wearing nothing except my 1972 Bob Griese autographed Dolphins football helmet.

It's that kind of sacrifice and commitment that makes a true fan and none of you seem to have that.

I'm surprised Omar Kelly didn't mention Bernie Parmalee; wasn't he working at UPS before making the Dolphins?

I think an even bigger story than Vince Papale was Kurt Warner who not only went from bagging groceries to being successful; he won a SB (went two times) while commandeering one of the best offenses in NFL history. He did this as a QB mind you, much harder than the other positions in terms of a learning curve.

Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain are both 5' 10", and they did very well. I think 5'10" is pretty good size for a corner back. It's the little 5'7", 5'8" that are often over matched by the 6'0" wide receivers. That 4.33 speed coupled with good jumping ability can help compensate a lot against bigger WRs

I thought of Bernie Parmalee when I read this as well. For God sakes, it's a feel good story so take it for what it is worth. If the Mikes and Shaggy's really think they are Dolphins fans, do us all a favor and switch allegiances to the stinkin jets. You will not be missed!!!

This story is what it is, nothing more. No one is saying he's going to be the next Deion Sanders. All Omar is trying to say is the guy is fast and has potential, so we as fans will keep track of him in hopes that one day soon he amounts to anything, that's all nothing more nothing less.
