They are good guys, they only drop poison in their own neighborhoods so they can make a quick buck. Im not sayin Pata was a dealer. Im speaking about the whole "we all make mistakes" line.

Hey Pepe Ledouche, Of course we make mistakes growing up, were talking about a 22 yr old college graduate with a criminology degree who wants to be in law enforcement if he doesnt make it in the NFL.. You think he was pushing k's through Kendall.. of course not. I cant see this being drugs, and if it is, it was probably petty and of course he didnt deserve the death penalty like higher learning mentioned.

We will all have to wait and see what comes out of the investigation. many a cop has been caught on the wrong side of the law, selling drugs themselves. So having a criminology degree doesn't make a difference. The point here is unless a rich Mommy or Daddy is paying for a SUV like the one he had, no other college student could afford to drive a vehicle in that price range. Of course unless the money was coming from some illegal activities or from a booster or agent which both violate NCAA rules and could get the University in Big trouble again. So either way lets hope the detectives catch the killer quickly and we find out the real motive for this unnecessary murder of young man that was just starting his life.

YOU don't know this guy personally. YOU only know what has been reported on TV....The guy was in college so he was trying to better himself at some level. But that is not what is most offensive to me....What is MOST OFFENSIVE is your lack of concern for the people who are grieving his death. YOU DON'T CARE HOW YOUR COMMENTS ARE EFFECTING HIS FAMILY OR THE PEOPLE WHO KNEW HIM. YOU are coming off like somebody who is YOUNG AND STUPID. Step back, take a moment and think about what you are doing here. IT IS NOT RIGHT!!!!

I am and always will be a Canes fan. I was brought into the U family by a wonderful son who loved football and most of all The Canes. After being shot at a young age his football career was over. I am blessed to still have him unlike Brian's mother who has had her child, not a football player, not a college student, not any of the things you would make him out to be, just her son taken from her. Believe me you can argue all you want about the why's, you can try to be the 1st to get it right--None of that matters. A young man is gone far before his potential was established and I feel quite sure a few of you need to do some soul searching of your own. Have none of you ever lost a loved one? Do none of you have Children that you want to protect and realize that no matter what you can't. It's not about You. Get It.

Well stated...People need to stop shooting their mouths off and think about what they are doing. Every situation is unique and people just need to show more respect for life and give the appropriate acknowlegement when life is tragicly lost.

No, I'm not Marsha folks. If she's as bad as you say she is then the best thing to do is ignore her. I really don't think all of you people jumping on her like you do are going to get a bouquet of flowers and a "Thank You" card from the family of Bryan Pata. In other words - you people are making the thread worse - not better, by fighting with her. Not only that but it's obvious that's what she wants, she wants to get under your skin - I bet she is laughing at all of you for playing her little game! Wake up!

Thanks but I assure you that I am WIDE AWAKE, I am far from naive, and I coulnn't DISAGREE with you more. What you suggest may be happening here but regardless of what her personal motives are, what she is doing is WRONG and I CHOSE to defend what is RIGHT. If somehow one of Bryan Pata's friends or family is reading this forum I want them to know exactly how I feel and I want them to know that somebody gives a damn about what is being said during this time of reflection and mourning.

Marsha has facial hair wrote: <quoted text> Theres also a loop hole in NCAA rules which im not to familiar with. Maybe somebody here can explain it. Car dealerships offer delayed financing or leasing in which a person (Almost always a college athlete) doesnt have to pay for a year or more.. not quite sure. The college does not get sanctioned if the player pays when that grace period is over (when they go to the pros). I hear his sister leased it for him

I have read only a few posts on this topic , for one I am appaled . who cares what he drove , where he lived.this 2006 not the 1800's or the 1960's . he was on his way to a degree.unless all the negative posts here have a detective badges . and have law degrees lets not close the case. have we forgoten that the one who pulled the triger is still at large, is an obvious menace to society. For all we know Brian may have made a wrong turn in front of of someone who just found out he or she just lost thier job. so in closing let us morn for another young man taken way to soon . Lets GO CANES
