That guy has a massive wingspan of 8,1" despite being only 7,2" barefoot.

at kentucky he rode the bench. size and high school performance do not necessarily add up to a skilled college level player. he was always 2 steps behind the average or above average college players. tubby smith wasnt the best coach to teach this kid how to get to the next level either. what a waste of potential.

Yeah, it's a real waste of potential...his immense, disproportionately long wingspan could have been put to very good use--if only he could play the game better. but keep in mine there are a lot of 7 footer s who can't play basketball any better than this guy--so i wouldn't call pathetic (nor do anyone has the right to say so unless they are actually better at the game than him). what's also interesting to note about this guy's measurements is that his STANDING REACH IS ACTUALLY IDENTICAL (because of his ridiculous wingspan) TO THAT OF THE 7,5" YAO (despite being three inches shorter).

he was very lazy with his habits both during practice and at games. because of his height , he dominated in high school. when he played against real talent in college , he was dominated. tubby smith was the wrong coach to have when it came to breaking habits and teaching new skills. |

i guess the only way you could not be dominating with such freakish physical attributes is to be lazy...putting little effort in reaching his potential. it's really sad, though. the kid is freakishly tall has freakish length and more importantly, unlike many freakishly tall people (like Gheorghe Muresan or Sun Ming Ming)his stature is not due to life-threatening some growth disorder (which means his mobility isn't adversely affected). although he wasn't the most naturally atheletic guy out there, he still did had a lot of potential--which he failed to reach.

btw, just curious ? how tall is tubby smith?

he is over 6 and played college ball. look him up. |

|
But standing next to Alleyne, the top of Tubby's head just barely comes up to Alleyne's shoulders! Alleyne is simply enormous and he can also grab the rim while standing on the floor! Sucks he didn't get drafted because how often do find a player who can easily touch the rim without jumping and has 8 foot plus wingspan?

height doesnt make a person a basketball player. |

obviously otherwise we could just recruit all of the tallest people in the world into one superbasketball team lol!

i think with alleyne , his height was what saved him in high school. probably didnt play competition that was as talented as he saw in college. plus he was the go to guy. pampered. then he went to college , a higher level of talent and he wasnt able to handle not being the go to guy anymore. which is why he was sitting on the end of the bench and playing minimal minutes. guys were walking cirles around him and he didnt have the talent to compete .

Alleyne isn't very athletic but unlike many/most people of his height, his height was not caused a medical condition. that means he could have been a better player if he had put more effort which he didn't. plus he was just a lazy guy in general--he flunked out of university. to be honest i think his level of athleticism is no better than mine--the only difference is that he's about a 1 and 1/2 feet tall than me!
