Feeling a draft in Celtics' logic

Full story: Bennington Banner

I know, I know. The Boston Celtics just won an NBA championship, so we're supposed to cut them some slack for at least a week or two.

I agree with your assessment. I think DA's logic in drafting these players were partly due because of Ray Allen's struggles in the postseason at least the early part. I believe he sees Walker or Giddens as a replacement in a few years for him.

He PASSED on Mario Chalmers because he wasnt going to select another point guard for the 2nd straight year. He may actually believe House, Cassell and Pruitt are capable backups which I HIGHLY doubt. I think Chalmers is going to be a decent starting or backup point guard in this league especially after that championship game. i would have drafted him in a second!!!

I don't really understand why he didnt select Jordan. But i sort of have an idea why. I think he believes it would shatter Perkins confidence at such a fragile age. Which i agree partly, but you can't dismiss Jordan's talent and like Chalmers at pick 30. He should have been selected!!

I think DA's logic in the coming years will be to shore up the future of the celtics. I think KG is going to be playing at a high level for about 4-5 years and Pierce as well. I think Allen's production will diminish significantly in the next year which will only increase Walker's and Gidden's role as the future of the Celtics SG position.

I mean if you think about it if not for Posey's and Eddie House's games when Allen was off we would not be enjoying this championship. So in all Ainge basically said " Alright I gotta get some scoring off the bench just in case Allen plays like crap"

What's your projected 15 man roster?

This is mine

Perkins, Powe, Pierce, Garnett, Allen, Rondo, Posey, Walker, Giddens, Davis,Posey, House, Cassell, T.A?, Pruitt

I think brown and pollard retire and also Scalabrine gets bought out.

We may be thin at the 4-5 positions but we look real loaded everywhere else. I think Powe and Davis will be even better next year. It looks like a bright future for the C's. great article I was thinking teh same thing!!

Hey, you say are "hopes." You act like we have not had it good in a while and were still praying to win in the future. We just won it all.

HOW ABOUT ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO PASSED ON JORDAN, THEY SHOULD BE LABELED FOOLS TOO. NOT JUST THE CELTICS.

Bob Ryan had it right in the Globe, Giddens is Tony Allen's replacement. Too bad TA blew out both knees (I was at the game in Jan. '07 when he did it the secon time), he hasn't been the same player.

Jordan has a pretty high bust potential - he's incredibly soft for his size, and is reportedly very difficult to coach. Giddens, on the other hand, is much further along development-wise and appears to have put his off-court issues behind him with a solid senior season at New Mexico.
I think Ainge knows what he's doing.
