Indiana Hoosiers NCAA Basketball

No offense, but . . .

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

Kelvin Sampson was booed at every turn, Bruce Weber managed to reluctantly shake the hand of his nemesis twice, and the next chapter in the Eric Gordon Indiana-Illinois saga came and went with few surprises.

Calloway should have been on the bench and not on the floor with his lazy playing. A sad performance.

The Sampson bandwagon is not quite full yet. That was one lousy game.

They just did not hit any shots. Bottom line it wasn't that Illinois played that good IU just played that bad. But Oh well maybe they can have some closer to whatever they are whining about. What has happened to Stemler???

What always happens to Stemler? I've yet to see why this guy makes it onto the floor.

Stemler needs to get with a good shooting coach. He's almost afraid to shoot now. On every shot he takes, his legs are not fully underneath him. Get a shooting coach for him or bench him!!!

Just think Mike Davis had this team as high as 9th in the polls last year. See Terry's Blog for January 16, 2007. Wonder how long it will take Sampson to get in the Top Ten.

Wait a minute: The IU fans posted numerous times that IU would have beat Duke if Stemler played. Which is it?

I was very disappointed in Bruce Weber's post game actions and handshake. Suck it up and be a man. Be angry at Sampson, but you, as a coach, should shake the hand of every IU player and not run off the court!

We stunk up the gym!
Hope we can get out of the funk we displayed last night!
They looked like Davis was still coaching them.

This was almost a predictable outcome. Forget the dramatics, if you dont hit shots, you dont win. Tremendous atmosphere, tourney like pressure and we didnt react. Im sure Weber and Sampson are glad its over, now on to the rest of the season.

Chamaign, go take your medication, things will be alright for you. They really will. Just try a tad bit harder to hide your bitterness about life.

I thought Sampson said it best himself when he said that "when we lost at Duke or Kentucky I still felt like we played very hard, but we didn't compete tonight". For some reason, whether it was breaking into the rankings, the distraction of the Webber-Sampson saga, or maybe just the legendarily difficult Illinois assembly hall environment, they just lost their edge and didn't compete hard starting with about 5-6 minutes left in the first half. Disappointing, but not devastating. The key will be to see how they respond in their next game - was this a momentary letdown, or a sign that they don't have what it takes to win big games in the Big Ten. Here's to hoping for the former.

Has anybody noticed that Eric Gordon and his family decided, on their own, that he would rather go to IU than Illinois? It's doubtful that Sampson ever spoke to him before he spoke to Sampson. It's not likely that any coach worth his salt would try to torpedo another coach.

I knew we would lose as soon as we got ranked. We are just not a top 25 team.

IU will be fine, last night was a little discouraging, but you cannot win every game you ever play. Keep crying Weber, that was a real class move to not shake any IU players hands. What did DJ White or Rod Wilmont do to you????? Illinois deserved to win last night, but will get theirs in a couple weeks.

Daily Horoscope for January 3

Gemini

You are in a dissatisfied mood, and are just spoiling for a fight today. However, be warned that this could backfire on you unpleasantly, especially if you take on superiors at work. At home, everyone is used to your behaviour and they generally make allowances for you, as they will today.
