Temptations of NBA catch up to Howard

Full story: Orlando Sentinel

Growing up, my mother had a saying "never say what you'll never do, because that will be the very thing you do." I was a stay-at-home on Friday night, squeaky clean, Christian high school kid.

WOW, you have finally found the one negative thing to write about Dwight. Way to make a big issue out of this. It's not like millions of other "Christians" have children out of wedlock. Howard at least came forward, made it public and said he would take care of his child. It's amazing that the Sentinel never reports on all of the positive things Dwight does, but posts three articles on this.

This sounds like the start of running another great player out of town. Didn't the Sentinel learn their lesson after Shaq?

A sin is a sin in Gods eyes. 1 sin is no greater than the next.......Howard is human and was born into this world a sinner. We all face temptation everyday and everyday we all fail in one way or another. As a Christian man of faith he "Howard" will wake each day with sin calling and pray for God to give him strength and power to make the right decisions and yes Forgivness for all of us are not perfect. Being a Christian is a relationship with God and God loves us all!!!!!

To correct the first poster, Howard did not come forward. He hid that he had a child for a couple months.

And? I don't understand the mentality that people have that Dwight 'should have come forward' and he 'hid it'. So what? It's his life. I am sure the people who matter - his family, friends - all knew. Why exactly should he have told the entire world? It's his personal life. It has zero to do with basketball, and thus zero to do with you or me.

Sad. While Howard is on his way to being a great players, we can only hope that he is not on his way to being another Shawn Kemp. Some people can handle success and others can't. Maybe not with the media, but Howard has tarnish his image as a wholesome young man. Just another NBA player being an NBA player. Nothing special about Howard as a person. He needs to quit the talk when he can't walk the walk. Not judging him but the evidence speaks for itself.

everyone who speaks of being a christian or christianity must be a little of their rocker since doesnt it say those who live in glass houses shall not cast stones. the bigger of the issues that could have come from this is if he had just ignored the fact he had a kid and left like alot of other boys who want to be men. we shouldnt be critizing this man for having a child out of wedlock instead we should praise him and pray for him to be a man and be a father for this kid

Dwight also said a couple of years ago.....we will win the NBA champonship this year!

It only proves one thing....he's human.

He has high aspirations. It just always isn't that easy.

Dwight is in the spotlight. Everything he says and does is news. Do I condemn him. Not on your life.

We all sin. Dwight isn't the first person to sin.

I'm a Christian. Have I sinned? How far can you count?

God says he'll forgive us if we ask him. I believe that.

Love that baby forever Dwight. I know you will. I've never met you, but I'm in your corner.

I hope his is the last of the Dwight Howard & his Christian beliefs & a baby story. The guy is a young, NBA star & the groupies are uber-aggressive skanks that are dead set on getting a pro athlete. These guys go to practice or games only to come back & find girls who have found ways to get into hotel rooms, condos, etc.

Everyone wants to crucify Dwight because of his beliefs but last I checked, no one is perfect & everyone makes mistakes. What most people don't understand about God is that He is a forgiving God. If you come to Him with a repetant spirit, He WILL forgive you for your sins. Our job as humans is to love God & love each other, not to judge.

Dwight got caught up & a baby came as a result of his actions. But now, the mark of his character will be based him taking care of his responsibilities. The media should respect his & every other celebrities privacy & not play out their personal lives in the papers, the Internet & TV.

Its people like you that are the jerks. What the heck does that mean an NBA player being an NBA player. Guess what NBA players (or what you really wanted to say, black guys) aren't the only guys having kids out of wed lock.

Let's just look over the last couple years & count how many ministers & politicians got busted for having extra-marital affairs. Many of these affairs have been with other MEN, not women.

Funny thing is before these men were exposed, I guarantee you would've never stereotyped these men & given the chance probably befriended them. But one look at an NBA player & you want to stereotype.

So BOB of Winter Park, why don't you stop & think before you let the stupidity out. To apply your own words, "the evidence speaks for itself". The words you speak tell me everything I need to know about you.

Dwight does deserved to be judged because he had son.Howard is gonna win the magic a championship. As a Magic fan I feel grateful to such a domainant player and a great guy on this team.Tom Brady had same situation and patriots fans or local media aren't judging Brady for that.I think its stupid judge Howard after all he's doing and will do for the magic.Orlando newspaper have stop writing about this and leave Dwight alone to win us games and by the way I think Dwight will be great father.Congradialations(my spelling sucks)Dwight!

Regardless of what you say. His Christian supporters that valued his christians values is tainted forever. Everybody will give him a pass due to his dominance on the court. But his rap sheet is tainted as being a typical NBA pro.
IMHO I really dont give a ***!:-) As long as he performs on the court and gives us that 20/15 play regularly. But it is what it is.

Welcome to 2008 hack reporters! This is the Norm in our society, and I hope D12 doen't read this railroad of an article. This is not a home town paper because they always trash our own teams. I will never buy a sentinel again. USA Today all the way!!!!!!! I hope another paper comes to town and wipes the floor with you unloyal, trash mouth hacks. I think D12 did the right thing, and will do the right thing for his child and child's mother. You are doing him a disservice by trashing him and continueing to broadcast his business. Leave the guy alone, he's an outstanding young person with great character. Great job alienating him from our community, if he leaves our team I will ..........Shannon Judas Owens.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Libra

If someone owes you money and you're beginning to think that you'll never get it back, this is an excellent day to chase them up. They may not cave in straightaway but at least you'll have had your say and done what you can. Watch out for a tendency to lose your temper, because although this could be quite dramatic if you're usually the soul of equanimity it could work against you if you become aggressive or unpleasant.
