Makeover might help Garrity -- OrlandoSentinel.com

There's no doubt Garrity has lost all his confidence. He was reluctant to shoot even when wide open.
He has commented in the past "that if he's not hitting shots he shouldn't even be out there". I agree. I personally would like to see him traded for his expiring contract. Darrell Armstrong...what can I say. If you don't love Darrell Armstrong you don't like baskeball. There isn't any club he couldn't help if used. His 100% all out defense messes opposition teams up. If for nothing else his passion excites everyone the minute he enters a game. I don't care how old he is. |

Totally agree with rebel.
Garrity is done and should be traded, but who is willing to trade for him???? I think we are going to see him wearing a magic uniform next season and I hope the minutes he plays are productive. Armstrong was a big mistake for the magic....mistake of letting him go. The season he left he lost 19 in a row. His minutes are very productive and his energy is awesome. I wish Denver that the Nuggets change their mind about trading Garrity and Dooling for Evans and JR Smith, but I don't see it happening. |

Garrity has a reputation for being a great shooter, unfortunately its completely unfounded. I've never seen a guy miss as many wide open shots as Pat Garrity. The guy is a complete joke and will be out of the league after his contract expires next off-season...no doubt.

I believe they still need a penetrating point guard who thinks pass first shoot second

Here we go again, trying to revive Garrity. Pull the plug on his status as a member of the Magic. His space can be put to better usage. Let him go peacefully.

Can we bring back Armstrong please?!?!?!

You know ur hurting for stories to write about the magic when your trying to blow smoke up this city about that stiff garrity. Sorries story EVER in journalism. Nice job Tim. Ask for a raise after this one.

Garrity is going to start? What? Did you all read what I read. Hmm, I don't think so. Go Irish!

Are you kidding me. Who cares about Garrity. I can not believe the magic have got ride of Miller, Armstrong, T-mac, Mobily, and Wallace. And Yet Garrity is still seating there on the magic bench. The Magic are suppose to be trading the bad player and keeping the good ones, but i guess its hard to trade this Garrity guy because no one wants him. Im sure he is a nice guy but nice does not cut it in the NBA.

Maybe he was paid by the Magic to write this article... in an attempt to help with the trade scenarios with Denver... that's the only reason I can see this article being in print.

This guy has been nothing but an albatross for several years. He can no longer shoot; he could never defend. It's a wasted roster spot. This would be addition by subtraction. Cut him loose. You won't get ANY takers in a trade.

Are you kidding me! Otis if you dont trade Dooling and Garrity for J.R Smith and Reggie Evans you are a complete idiot! Reggie Evans was one of the better rebounders in the league last year per minutes played and J.R Smith is exactly what the Magic need going into next season a slasher shooting guard who can take it to the basket draw fouls and shoot from the arc! and He is young and im sure that Stan Van Gundy will be able to mold him into a premier player in the NBA. He needs a chance to blow and can do it if the Magic give him a chance. Denver needs to clear salary so trade them! Even if we need to trade a future first rounder so what. If Otis is talking about putting the right pieces around Dwight and Rashard and we need a big and a shooting guard the trade just makes sense! Nelson J.R Smith Rashard Lewis Reggie Evans and Howard that is a good enough lineup to take us pretty far into next season then you would have Arroyo Reddick Hedo Tony Battie and Adoyal Foyle (considering he takes the vet min which i think he will) that is a deep 1 to punch a deep bench with a good starting line up plus think of the miss matches! Otis dont be stupid and keep Garrity and Dooling prove your smart and do a trade that just makes sense for the team!

If Otis can pull off this trade with Denver it would be HUGE. I was hoping we would land Evans when we had the chance a couple years ago as it was apparent he wanted out of Seattle.
When I asked Otis on the Magic site at that time, I believe his response was something like although he liked Evans, he wouldn't be able to get him without affecting the core of the team. Opportunity knocks again. |

I agree with all the comments posted! Garrity has never been an asset for the Magic. His potential is grossly overestimated. All he wants to do is shoot from the perimeter where it's safe and he can't get banged up! Get a guy in here with guts as well as true talent! I don't see the trade happening unless it's to help clear salary cap room for Denver next year. So Otis, sweeten the pot and throw in Nelson if need be. No one knows what to expect from Jameer next season anyway.

garrity, what a joke he's been done for a while now, even b. hill played him and he did not respond. garrity should be traded for whatever we can get back....this may be an addition by subtraction deal...
|
||||
|
Reggie Evans for Pat Garrity will not
occur because Denver can get a better deal for Evans. I think trading Garrity for Brian Cook makes more sense because with Kwame Brown and Pat Garrity expiring contracts the Lakers can make a run at Gilbert Arenas. |
||||
|
I want what some of you are smoking. There's no market for Garrity. Just cut him loose!!
|
||||
I think you're the idiot and stupid. Otis would love to make the trade, but Denver will not give Evan for Garrity when they can get something way better that garrity in return. Read the news boy!!!! this was posted last week. |

Dead weight:
Keith Bogans Pat Garrity Carlos Arroyo Hedo Turkoglu Feel free to get rid of them any way you wish Otis! I have nothing against Garrity, except the fact that he is one-dimensional. He is a shooter, and if not hitting shoots, he has nothing to fall back on to help the team. Not a good defender, not a rebounder, not an assist guy, not a slasher. Garrity is one of those players who has been sitting an NBA bench for years for being a good practice player. Hedo Turkoglu is the second coming of Pat Garity. Carlos Arroyo is offensively challenged against quicker defenders, and that means just about every other guy he plays against. Once he was one of the great sparks coming off the bench that the NBA had to offer. Now, Arroyo is running on reputation, and still a backup. Keith Bogans... Keith Bogans is a living testament of what a basketball education at Kentucky can get you. You at least get to "earn" a check in the NBA. If you want to know why some Magic Fans wonder why Otis Smith has a job, you need look no further than these four guys. |
