I wonder what the attendance of this game was. I bet it was no better that when they used to play at the Sun Bowl.

From the SA news:

Team Texas has taken a 10-7 lead in the first quarter of the NFL Players Association college all-star game.

But the emerging story is the size of the crowd.

It appears there were less than 10,000 people in the Alamodome.

Officials had hoped for 25,000.

Game promoter Kenny Hansmire promised to have an attendance count by halftime.

I peeked in just to see the attendance..it was very weak..far less than last years 26k here. I'm going to guess about 12-14k in the stands, including a huge group of soldiers in uniform AND the 2 bands.

This guy Kenny complained about last years poor attendance at the Sun Bowl? Good luck getting better crowds in San Antonio..

So where is he going to move the game now since he had lower than expected attendance? This is a 3rd rate all star game and he should just fold up his tents and get outta dodge! Nobody cares about your sorry arse game! How about you move it to Ratliff stadium in Odessa. It has a seating capacity of 17,931. At least it will look like its 3/4 full if they have it there...ha haa!

Man what a slack! I never went to that game when it was in EP. I always say we need more fan support here for our football and I didn't support this. I'm ashamed of myself!

It didn't fly in EP and didn't fly in SA.

So much from everyone complaining that EP doesn't support or not a good city for football.

I guess we do know what's good in sports.

LOL! Less than 10k...

Was Hansmire's best friend Mayor Cook in attendance? LOL!

I wonder how many of those tickets were comp'd.

That con Kenny Hamsmire just dooped another city in giving him money for his scam of a game.

The crowd was an estimated 10,000. The game should have stayed in ep. Nobody in s.a cared about the game and no "stars" even play in it. Not to mention not much advertisement. There are way to many more better things going on in the city then this game at that time. Not to mention the start of the stock show and rodeo which is huge and in town for two weeks at the att center. I guarantee you there were more people at the stock show and rodeo during that same time then at the game. I have purchased tickets through ticketmaster in the past to other events in the alamodome and I got an email earlier this week from the alamodome/ticketmaster saying they were giving away 10,000 free tickets with a maximum of four tickets per person to the game which I didn't want or take and obvioulsy nobody else wanted for free. It was a perfect game for el paso only. Greed got the best of that guy who puts the game together and I am glad it bit him in the butt!

I could not agree with you more. The only difference is that "hot dogs" like Hamshire and El Paso's pathetic mayor, John Cook, always need a scape goat. I was in El Paso for last year's game and I heard Lou Romano's radio coverage where Cook and Hamshire bashed El Paso for bringing 26k fans to the game. I cannot imagine the mayor of San Antonio similarly blaming the citizens of that community for a turnout that was less than last year's game in El Paso. The difference boils down to respect for one's community, and El Paso's mayor truly has no respect for those who make up his community. Perhaps if the city's mayor actually accomplished something worthwhile and significant for El Paso, he would not be such a frustrated leader who always looks for the easy way out by blaming the other guy. Is the "other guy" also to blame for the mayor's abject failure to bring economic development to a truly unique and wonderful international metroplex like El Paso with so much economic potential? I can only hope that the present mayor's fate will one day soon be much like that of Mr. Hamshire and his All Star football game-- to also chase him out of town!!!

The promoter is a con artist, he inflated the economic impact of the game and he actually got a couple of years of support from the city of El Paso before the city and county wised up.

The fact that two players from El Paso that I never even heard of were in the game points to what a 3rd rate game it is.

A year ago I knew I'd be saying "I told you so" to those people who bashed El Paso last year and the time has come.

The attendance was terrible! This is partly due to the lack of advertising! I didnt see anything around town advertising it. And, until Tuesday I didnt see any TV commercials. Our group made up about 30 of the people who attended. Something else they need to think about is not having the game the weekend of the Super Bowl and during our Stock Show and Rodeo! This game has a really good purpose if it was promoted right!

Here is a link so you can see how empty the Alamodome was for Hansmire's gimmick of a game now called the NFLPA game instead of Texas vs the Nation All Star Game. This idiots are still trying to sell it as a NFL product when it's not even a NFL product. NFLPA is the Players Associatio which is just a union. The NFL should actually sue them. Anywas click the link it's a grea write up piece by Duke Keith. I counted about 2,000 spectators in the photos. Probably 1,500 of those were free tickets.
