Two Tight Ends, Three Tight Endsa Four Tight Ends?

Aug 7, 2012 Full story: One Foot Down 20

Well, to answer that question, I decided to look at the tight end-iest offense in the country, the Stanford Cardinal .

We have the best TE in the nation and 3 of the backups would start on about every team in the country. We have been churning out TE's for a very long time.

Well I'm not sure we'll be National Champions but thanks for the vote of confidence.

Sorry BigDan, but all my confidence is on the Trojans. ND will lose against 4 of these 6 opponents:

Mich St
Michigan
Stanford
Oklahoma
BYU
USC (definite ND loss)

You said "will lose against 4 of these 6", so if you aren't correct then are you are willing to admit that you know nothing and should never make a prediction again about any team, including yours? Otherwise just shut up, give me the reasons why Notre Dame will lose to those 4 teams. I have not come out and said that we will beat anyone in particular. I have also said that it is way to early for predictions because even if you are right, it was nothing more than luck, not wisdom or intellect.
I will be waiting for a detailed analysis on why we will lose those games. Heck, I might agree. I know one thing for sure, NO ONE has manned up to play a schedule like we have. 2 seasons ago Notre Dame was supposed to have a definite loss to USC, of course that didn't happen so what I do know, your predictions are basically no better than a coin toss. You are 1 for 2.
If I were going to predict anything in Aug it would be between 0-5 losses. I don't really like guessing when I have no games played to go on. Vegas has us lossing 2 games.

BD, I'm by no means a hater. However, I saw this in another forum and thought it raised some valid questions, in spite of it's hater-ish qualities:
the ND QB is out for beating up policemen, they are trying the 2 untested qb's one of whom threw 4 int's today in practice..their whole secondary had to be rebuilt, they lost M Floyd, were 8-5 last year without all these problems, yet...

they are picked to beat Miami, Stanford, BYU, Navy, Pitt, Boston College, Purdue, Rutgers, are rated even with Michigan and only a -9 dog vs. USC and Oklahoma and are only 20-1 to win the MNC by Vegas

would you call them the most overrated team in history?
So what say you, BD? Considering what was written above, do you think ND has the horses to beat Miami & Stanford & Michigan & Oklahoma?(I'm not asking about USC because I toss rankings and perceptions out the window when it comes to rivalry games like that.)

BTW, I have major respect for the way they schedule games. Unlike other supposed "elite" football programs and supposed "elite" football conferences, Notre Dame isn't ducking anyone.

As of right now I would say that we have more than enough horses to beat Miami, Stanford and Michigan. I am more worried about BYU than those 3 teams. I think Oklahoma has more proven talent than Notre Dame. I think USC has less talent because of numbers but better skill players on offense.

After reading that post from the other guy, I still don't see his point that Notre Dame is over-rated. Who is out there saying they are world beaters? If anything, I think we are flying under the radar and I like that. If you wonder if we can beat Michigan, go back and watch the game from last year, FLUKE!!!!!!, Stanford was the only team that really whipped us last year and they are nowhere near as good as they were, could they beat us, sure, don't think they will. Not taking anything away from USC, they beat us fair and square but we played bad and was in the red zone looking to tie it up in the 4th so it was closer than than the score looked. I, like you wouldn't pick as an absolute the USC/Notre Dame game but I will give USC a slight edge at this point in the year. I think we are more talented than most of the teams that we play this year but that doesn't always translate to victories. It's more of how you are talent and where, not just that in pure numbers you have more talented players on the roster.

When you thought I was commenting about ND and a National Title run, I am just simply saying/correcting that you will lose 4 games within those 6. These are all tough games and I agree with CPEM that ND does not duck anybody and always has a very tough schedule. My gut feeling is ND is not strong enough to take on all these teams with overwhelming success. I stick by my feeling of ND having about 4 losses this season while USC will only have 1! If I am wrong, I would expect you to be one of the first to call me out on it...

I think you will beat Miami as their only real opponent was Kansas State who spanked them 52-13. Oklahoma lost to Kansas State as well but only by 5 points. BYU lost their two games on the road @ Utah 24-21 and @ Boise 7-6. Their defense looks as good as yours so far. I still stick to my guns that ND loses 4 games this year (of course USC being one of them)!

An early loss always makes better for an easier rankings climb as the season winds down!

well of course you want the loss to come early. I hope that we don't have one this weekend. Our D is going to be tested today. I know Miami hasn't played anyone big time but they have gained a lot of confidence. Our offense needs to give our D a break today. I hope we move the damn ball all game instead of the last 3 minutes.
