He should have signed with Florida instead of FSU. Right now he would be sporting two National Championship rings. Hope he gets a chance to show his talent in the NFL.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Antone Smith has straight away speed but no wiggle. He doesn't see the hole fast enough. He's a bust just like Lorenzo Booker. Neither one of them could run the ball like Leon Washington and all they make is excuses. You Gators would not have wanted Smith, he would have flopped there too. Remember Vannez Gooch in the 90's or your most recent flop, Emannuel Moody. Be carefull what you wish for.

Don't forget that Vannez Gooch was a Nole first. What this article doesn't say is that Deuce was buried on the depth chart for 2 years and couldn't stay out of the training room for the other 2. Was instrumental in the win against Miami last year but, as a whole, HE and HE ALONE didn't live up to his 5* rating.

"Everyone knows what type of back they're looking for now. They want the bigger backs."

In other words, NFL caliber backs. If he would have produced more consisently, he would have had more touches. He's got the cart before the horse.

He should be thankful he had an opportunity to get out of Pahokee and get a free education. Plenty of others would beg for that chance. I'm curious how close he is to obtaining his degree???

Perhaps Mr. Antone Smith needs to understand the NFL has weak lines also and he might not get on a team who needs a back but a great back who can produce on his own without a bunch 350 pounders blocking for him.
Maybe thats what he needed to show at FSU, then he would be drafted higher.

It's not you kid, it's everyone else around you. Just making the comment should practically solidify your not getting drafted. Take some personal responsibility for once!

Let's see, he comes to fsu and sees that Bobby is putting his son's employment above the program despite the fact that Jeffy couldn't coach and was an even worse recruiter-except to call him a recruiter is to imply he did something. all of that was A OK with the hc/his dad. Among other things, it lead to a truly pathetic OL for all but Antone's senior year. Since then The good President TK has continued to put Bobby above the program holding the program back.

HOW many times did Greg Jones have to run backwards into a hole before you realized that Sexton (Antone's RB coach for 3 years) couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

I would be far more bitter than Antone.

Smith's main problem is that he would get taken down by arm tackles. He had crazy speed, but he needs to be able to break arm tackles if he is going to make it at the next level. He had his chances here at FSU, he would of lifted the program up with his skill( in college) if he truly was an elite prospect.

this is funny. it is actually his HIGH SCHOOL system that made Smith look better, or more highly rated, than he should have been. This article should have been turned on its head. Just watch any of Smiths HS clips he never, not once ran between the tackles. they just hiked the ball and pitched it to him and he would bounce outside and just outrun the defense. which is great and all but he wasnt prepared to play at the major college pro style offensive scheme. he might have been better off at a WVU spread but he really isnt that good.

No Shite Sherlock that the system sucks right now.
Aren't Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker in the pro's ? They were the ones that passed the unflamed torch to Antone.
That being said, this should have been kept inhouse and away from the media, as you Gator fans don't need any more top notch recruits, this might swing a potential blue chipper away from signing for fear of "the system failing him"...
