Mallett would be an absolute STEAL at 12th overall, newton, gabbert, and locker will bust out within 3 years. Mallett is the only pro-ready qb in the draft, let the morons with the first 11 picks make bad decisons. With the 12th overall pick in the 2011 nfl draft The Vikings select, Ryan Mallett of Arkansas!

And, then, spend the duration of his guaranteed contract kicking themselves in the head as his multiple flaws are painstakingly revealed in all their inaccurate, holds-the-ball, choke/interception prone glory?

Uh, "no."

Mallett? What about Dononvan McNabb? And, didja hear that Brett Favre could be playing again next year for some team somewhere - maybe Arizona? They're going to have to develop a "Senior League" so Favre can keep on playing until he'd ready for the home.

Definitely the best Quarterback in the draft who cares if he drank to much what college kid doesn't but the vikings got way to many needs not to draft the best player available as Denny Green would say.

He's probably worth a roll of the dice. It would be nice to see a high round rookie with loads of talent instead of some retread at the end of his career. Who knows, he could be the next Aaron Rogers.

If he can qualify by getting drunk and driving and have weapons laying all over his car, beating up a female, send naked pics over the internet, he might make the cut.

The Vikes have to make sure they look at these kids real close, not just the physical part, but also intelligence, and personalities. I'm leaning towards Andy Dalton myself...not quite done on my research, but so far I like what I see!

I wonder how many of the negative comments are really Vilking Fans or just sour Michigan fans who gotad that Mallett transferred from their football program which ending up collapsing under the Rich Rodriquez regime. The rumors about Mallett are false and is a bunch of crap picked up and ran with by ESPN with no proof only rumors. The press in Arkansas has done extensive checks and found nothing. Sounds like someone with sour grapes has spread alot of bull. No one kind even find out who ESPN's source is? Mallet is without the best pro.style strong armed qb in the draft. Scam Newton, Locker, Gabbert, and etc are the next big losing busts of the draft. The next Mel Kyper high draft pick busts! His next Jimmy Clausen, Brady Quinn, and loser from LSU that went to Oakland as the 1 pick. All hyped up by Kyper and ESPN so called Experts. I have been a Vikings fan since the days of Fran the Man, the purple people eater days and I been through the good times with the bad and Joe Webb is definitely not the answer at qb. The only solid choice to fit into a pro style offense that has been already playing in a pro style offense is Ryan Mallet. Here's to hoping that the Vikings organization makes a very wise choice with their limited draft picks this year and come to their senses and sign Sidney Rice, otherwise it's a long road ahead of medocrity and rebuilding!

Well said, I like Mallett, I watched him at his bowl game and his WR dropped at least 6 passes that were right on the money. We should use those same rumors of his so called immaturity to help us, because he is going to slide down in the draft. If we could drop down and pick up another 2nd or a 3rd round pick, or possibly a first next year, then draft Mallette later in with that first pick, I would be very happy with that pick. Taking him at 12 with no one behind us showing interest would be a mistake, and waiting for him in round two will also be a mistake as he will be gone in the top of the 2nd. There's a lot of people posting here that are only repeating what Kiper and other so called draft gurus spill out, but you watch the tape, he is accurate and can make all the throwws. Some will down grade him because he is a slow runner, but he has a very good pocket presence and slides to evade the sack while still keeping his eyes downfield.

The Vikings shouldn't touch Mallet with a ten foot pole. This guy has 'Ryan Leaf' written all over him.

You can't measure heart, but you can evaluate talent and attitude. Mallet has a good bit of talent, but his attitude, as it stands right now, will have him out of the league before his rookie contract expires.

Can that change? Sure. Will it? I'd rather not see this team gamble on it. The best pick at #12 may end up being an OT. It won't matter who our QB is if we can't protect him.

Funny thing about rumors, you need to look at the source (which no one can find) and whom they benefit. He is the closest NFL ready QB in the draft, the rest are 2 year or 3 year projects. A lot to invest a 1st round pick on.

Below are 2 of the best and most honest reviews of Mallet I've seen so far. The rumors are smoke screens (literally), he will go in the first round.
