i am not going to complain about this pick because Rudolph has all the makings of an amazing NFL TE but i am still a little concerned that we are not addressing the future of our defense or our offensive line.

Yeah this would be a better pick if childress didn't screw up the moss situation. God i hate you childress!!!!!

High quality pick. I just wish this was a need position. But a high quailty pick nonetheless.

Hopefully when free agency opens we'll be major players. Cause we got a long way to go. I like the first pick myself tho.. I may be all alone on this...

I like the idea if a two TE set with Rice and Harvin. OL/DL help will have to be done in rounds 4-7. Can be done, especially on the OL, where a lot of late rounder picks turn out to be starters.

I would've prefered Rahim Moore but Rudolph is definitely a solid pick. I'm sure he'll get his fair share of snaps too.....by the looks of things we are going to run the ball a ton next year and ease Ponder in.....lots of double TE sets. Harvin could be our only legit WR so it makes sense. Welcome Rudolph and Skol Vikes!

Yeah even though we needed to address other positions..........Kevin rudolph is a beast. He reminds me of todd heap. Get rice back and we should start destroying some teams within the next 1-2 years. I was angry at first but then i realized "this guys a fricken beast". So good pick.

Ok. According to some fat guy at superamerica the vikings are trying to move into the 3rd round. Look out for a trade.

Even more breaking news. Ponder has confirmed (twitter) that he will be wearing #7 with the purple and gold.

I didn't get home from work in time to see the comments by the analysts on TV so I don't know what to think of this guy in particular, but it certainly seems like when we all thought of the needs this team has, TE wasn't one of them. If as one poster said, he's another Todd Heap, then great; but it seems to me like we're desperately in need of OL help and it's not being addressed.

Well, they drafted the highest rated TE in the draft, but in my opinion we had more pressing needs. Rudolph could end up being a stud? I am excited to watch our first two picks develop! Go Vikes!

If Edwards and Rice return, these picks look better. Notice what the Bears did to give Cutler more protection by going to 2 TE sets. Worked wonders for the Bears.

Injuries played a big part in last seasons collapse - rice, favre, Sullivan, Hutch, loadholt, Cooper, cook, griffen.

Thee free agent signings (OL, DL, S) and we can compete with anyone.

If we drop Barrian, Favre, Leber - we have lots of money to spend on proven players.

i sure hope you are right soda. this draft is supposed to be deep on the defensive end and normally there are some offensive gems in the later rounds but i have my doubts we will find any plug and play guys out there.
i know that musgrave loves TEs and that, along with the fact that he is a bad$$$, is the reason we drafted rudolph but it also concerns me because of harvin. he is a guy that tends to disappear outside the hash marks and is much more comfortable in the slot. this makes for some trouble to both satisfy that desire and also have two or even one TE working in there as well. i don't know what the plan is but i did notice that the more Percy has come to prominence the more shanc has been overlooked so im not sure i like what this pick accomplishes. again, all that aside, barring injury rudolph appears to be a special talent at the position and worth of a #43 pick for sure.

The vikes drafted a TE?? You have GOT to be KIDDING ME. How come they didn't get a replacement for that boat anchor McKinnie, the most overpaid, overrated, underperforming OL in the NFL?? How about a DB? Stupid pick. We are good at TE for at least the next 1 or 2 years, the vikes should have picked better.

Two tight end offense. Like new england and chicago. It's actually a pretty good pick because kyle rudolph is the best te in the draft. Just imagine rice,harvin,shiancoe,rudolph. Loaded.

You are right in getting rid of Barrian and Leber is on his down side of his carreer. We can be great players in free agency once the Lockout is lifted...

so, i know im gonna get killed for saying this but do we take a look at mallett if he's still on the board in the fourth round? the fifth? people must be really down on him but he is the guy i have liked the most at the QB position and think may end up being the best in the draft. obviously he needs to get better with footwork and be in the right environment but his football knowledge is very high, his arm is ridiculous and from what i have seen and heard he is a great leader to his teammates in the huddle and is always fired up on the sidelines. i know im not on the inside but i saw nothing in his personality or record to be offensive. i know its a mute point but i honestly would not be upset if we picked him up if he continues to fall. if we were desperate enough to draft ponder at #12 are we also not desperate enough to take two QBs if the situation presents itself? we go into next year with webb, ponder and mallett. sink or swim boys.

I predict that both Ponder and Rudolph will someday be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
