We are not a middle of the pack, Big Ten program. Under Brewster over the past three years we have won six Big Ten games and lost 18. That is tenth in the Big Ten, one win above Indiana. We fired Mason at huge cost for only winning ten Big Ten games in his last three years. I wish we could back anywhere near the sixth best program in the Big Ten, but the record is more than clear regarding this coach.

It's a combination of good players being offered the chance to play at national programs that will make them attractive to the NFL and the fact that they don't think the Gophers program is going to turn around.

After reading the NY Times article about the Hendersons I would have to say that the Gophers did'nt miss out on anything but a headache with this kid and his P-daddy of a father. USC has to be the best possible fit for that group.

When you have the philosophical conviction that truth is what you believe it to be, you run the risk of divorcing yourself from the reality that everyone else sees with their own eyes. The gap between Brewster's heavy breathing and the reality of the program has gotten so great that any clear eyed recruit will shy away. And shying away they are. Mr. Brewster is left with the seeds and stems, I'm sorry to say. And we all are paying for him with our tax money. I'd rather hire a few good professors and send this silly man packing.

Give Cach Brewster a break. Hendersen was headed for a Big School program, not a rebuilding one. Brewster should have tried to land Hendersen, but not all out. It looks bad when you make a huge effort to land a player and he still says no. Other recruits will take note. That's not how you re-build a program. You do it by digging deeper than the competition. Compete harder for more three star players and then the four star players will eventually come to the school too.

A program that has been mediocre for nearly 50 years is not fixed overnight. Brewster needs to have a stable coaching staff with no turnover of coordinators for the next few years. His recruits of 2008/9 will now move into their upper classmen years. With coaching stability and the better players, this thing will start to turn in a positive direction over the next couple years. We all want this to change quickly....it does not work that way with the talent Brewster was handed when he arrived.

Don Harper has it correct in that rebuilding the program is a process that takes time. This coming January will mark 50 years since the Gophers last competed in "The Grand-daddy of them all". We have waited 50 years, we can certainly give Brewster a few more to see if he can turn this around. Everyone is disappointed because Henderson did not stay home to play. I am as well. But, in reality, we probably never had a shot at Henderson. If he didn't go to USC he would have gone to Miami, Notre Dame, or worse yet, Ohio State. Why not enjoy and support those players that we did recruit, Gjere, Kirkwood, Edwards (loved the article yesterday), etc.. I am one of the few posters on this site that can actually remember the 1960 and 1961 Rose Bowl's. If I can wait a few years longer, you can as well.

I hope the Gophers move up during Henderson's time in LA and even possibly win a Big Ten Championship for the first time in 40+ years! Maybe Jimmy Gjere will help them to it. Looks like Jimmy Gjere and not Seantrel Henderson could turn out to be Minnesota's next "Football God" for the rest of his life if they do well!

With that thinking, a coach has to be there 10 years before he can be judged on his record. Don't tell me the players there, when he came, were not talented. A good coach works with what he has, immediately.

The main bragging point when Brewster was hired, was his outstanding recruiting ability. Several times now he has proven, he cannot even recruit our own states top players. How can you expect players from other states to come to Minnesota when the top Minnesota kids get out of here as fast as they can. The St. Petersburg Times recently published a list of outstanding Florida players, passed over by the major schools, who compared with kids that became hiddden gems in the past. Maybe some one can buy Brewster a subscription to that paper !

I thought Brewster was known as a recruiting guy. After the polls came out and the "U" was ranked anywhere between 50th to 67th best in the country this obviously isn't the case. Once the novelty of the new stadium wears off and with no alcohol being served, not only will they be left with an empty feeling, but they will be playing to an empty capacity as they were at the metrodome. I think it's time to get rid of Punky soon and go after Tony Dungy.

To gauge Brewster's success is to compare Minnesota to another major school whose football program was a mess. Washington is very comparable. They have gone thru several coaches in the last ten years from was once a great, proud program. Well, after yesterday UW ranked 28th according Rivals.com , MN 50th in recruiting. Washington signed five 4 star recruits, MN only two. If Brewster was brought in because Maturi said he was such a great recruiter, then both these turkey necks should be fired ASAP. Someone posted something about a 10 year building program. That was fine years ago. Not in today's sports business. Win now or hit the road. It's all about the bottom line in major college sports in today's world.

Get a life and listen to his rhetoric once in a while and then you may actually be able to make a point that makes sense.

Now, Minnesota fans, get off the backs of these kids by expecting perfect little angles or yelling your heads off about how bad athletes behave. These kids do not sign with Ohio State and Michigan and Penn State to be role models in daily living. They came to play football. Minnesota is a State of wonderful freedom and independence unless your an athlete. Then, it is live "MY" way. But, in the state of independence what the heck is "MY" way????
