I see we're on a mission to minimize possible Ohio State victories in November now with phrases like "injury-decimated Iowa and collapsing Michigan" and "Stanzi's injury and the Hawkeyes' loss remove much of the luster" (of the Ohio State-Iowa game). Looks like Ohio State will never re-gain respect with the sports media until they throttle an SEC team in a major BCS bowl, if even then.

Agree with the comment about RRod's job security or lack thereof. IF the Maize and Blue lose both remaining games, I suspect we'll see Les Miles or Jim Harbaugh on the sideline next season, no matter how much the well-heeled alumni have to pony up to buy him out.

That being said....if the Buckeyes beat Iowa this Saturday, the game at Michigan has all the potential horror surrounding it as the game up there in '69 did -- except "only" a Rose Bowl berth is at stake instead of the Nat Ch. GO BUCKS!

You are correct....regrettably. OSU and quite frankly, the entire Big Ten will regain its "street cred" until it wins a marquee OOC game. Hey, we've brought that on ourselves and no it won't go completely away with one victory. But it is the hurdle we have to climb or we're just punching at air in listening to or resenting the skeptics. Again, regrettably, they have a point. Still....a Rose is still a Rose...and a win there would do wonders. And yes, I am getting WAY ahead of myself.

I give credence to the rumor that UM AD Bill Martin (the guy who hired RR) will retire next year and RR will be ousted at that time.
It's looking likely that once again UM doesn't make a bowl and without those additional practices for running a spread, UM doesn't look to improve much.

The Boise's, TCU's and even Cincy's can't be taken seriously until they play difficult non-conference schedules and beef up their conference membership.
As bad as the Big 10 is, they still have 4 teams in the top 25 and a few in honorable mention.
You can look pretty good when you don't have to take the week in week out pounding BCS Conference schools experience. They (Boise, TCU and Cincy) will ocassionally beat a high rated opponent but they can't consistantly do so.

Good point, however, I stopped doubting the upstarts when Utah crushed Alabama in the Sugar last year. Don't know if you saw that game, but it was an ass-whipping. Throw in Boise over Okie (Chokie) and Utah over Pitt (all those years ago), and the non-BCSers have proved us doubters wrong more often than not.

As always, the BCS will play itself out by the end of the season.

What might be kind of fun since this is the "year for hope and change" is to have one of the lesser teams win it all! At least Team Obama could then praise them more widely than the others!! And it would shut Congressional worries down!(Just a political angle to it all?! given that there is "no politics" involved in the BCS! Cough! Cough!)

Great comedy Bill! "perhaps his (Charlie Weis') winning personality..." Good thing I wasn't drinking anything when I read that or my comp would've gotten more than I would've!

How conveniently people forget that Michigan beat the might SEC Gators couple of years back. If not for the 3 turnovers (2 deep in the red zone) by the Wolverines the game was not even close. Looks like the Big 10 has to be like 5-0 in bowls for the next 5 years before the bashing stops.

Buckeyes need to focus on task at hand (Iowa) and not think of Rose Bowl like the fans and media speculate. Defense needs to repeat same PSU effort and offense looks much better when Pryor is under center w/ fullbak or when he rolls out to pass or run. Also. JT's philosophy usually works to his objectives: Winning Big 10 titles.
