Despite the lack of positives coming from the patrol over the past few years, they are still the best.

Despite the troubles with the management of the organization there are excellent men and women serving the community daily. Thank you for your service.

It is very nice to see this type of article. However, the fact still remains, the OSHP is full of problems, the leadership needs to be dealt with, and each member of the OSHP needs a refresher in ethics and proper behavior. The OSHP must regain the confidence and respect of the Ohio public. This is not going to be a simple task and it will take much more than an article or two of this type. Remember, actions speak louder than words. IF the OSHP is as good as the members of the OSHP think it is, the members of the OSHP, each and everyone of them, should be up to the task. Regaining the confidence and respect of Ohio citizens will only occur if each and every one of the troopers, from the top down (or bottom up if you prefer) work at it. We shall see won't we?

I have had almost daily contact with Troopers for the past 21 years and with very few exceptions I can say that most Troopers that I deal with who have 20 years or less on the road are professional and friendly individuals. The State should be proud of this department. Cop haters will bash them, but once you get to know them, they are usually very nice people. Not sure I'm as fond of their Administrators and how they handle their troops.

I can't drive more than 25 miles on 71 without seeing at least one of these "troopers" sitting there clocking speed. What a career. I find it comical that I drove across the united states this summer and saw two cops clocking speed the entire time. I drive to cleveland every other month or so, and each time I pass no fewer than 3 staties. Who pays for this? I

I drove from Ohio to LA and saw a total of 3 State cops, then drove from LA to Louisiana and saw ONE Border Patrol in Texas, then from Louisiana back to Ohio and saw ONE trooper in Kentucky, as soon as I entered Cincinnati, within 30 minutes I passed SIX State cops. Just a bunch of government flunkies that are over-funded and OVER staffed. Most taxpapers would be amazed at how much this bunch of hot dogs are costing them. I continue to advocate the abolishment of this worthless, political agency, and re-direct the monies they abuse to county sheriff departments. Everyone of them are arrogant, self-serving, and fail to obey the same rules/laws they enforce on the rest of us!

If you are being a smart a** and asking about the tickets they issue they don't receive anything for the number of tickets they write. Whether they write 0 or 25 their pay is the same. Oh, by the way, the "revenue" (or as I call it, a fine) goes to local jurisdictions where the offense was committed, not to the state coffers. I tried to write this response to the 2nd grade level so you could understand it. Drive safely!

I will make this response to you at the 1st grade level and YOU might understand. Revenue has no correlation to SALARY, any person, with any common sense, understood that the poster was referring to revenue generated by the tickets these hot dogs write. So, take a break out of your cruiser and TRY to understand!

The fact that you don't see them elsewhere but they're all over in Ohio shows how hard they work. Instead of being parked behind a building sleeping, or in a coffee shop they're busting they're behinds. And you want to get rid of them...you're ignorance amazes me...

Hey Ramseyjames boy, quick question for you, I am curious to know who would you call for help if you were to find yourself in an emergency situation out on the interstate or on a County Road? You really don't know what the hell you are wishing for.... Good luck on your wishes cause it will never happen... Hahahaha!!!! HATER!!

But one reason you don't see them elsewhere is because many other states 'play dirty' and use unmarked 'non-traditional' vehicles (rather than the standard Ford Crown Vic), and clock from inconspicuous locations.

Connecticut used to take seized vehicles from drug busts and refit them as unmarked cars. I got pulled over by a Mustang once, and my brother-in-law was stopped by a Camaro.

Wow, this is alot of wasted news space on people who spend ALOT of taxpayers money on writing speeding tickets and taking accident reports. How about some stories on real cops who actually handle crime. Find me a trooper that knows what to do in any situation that doesn't involve a car. This has to be the state agency that wastes the most money on what little they actually do. They should stay where they belong, securing the state fair parking lot and weigh stations. This agency may be a law enforcement agency, but they are not a police agency.
