COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UCLA squeaks by lowly Concordia, 62-61

Full story: San Gabriel Valley Tribune

The UCLA men's basketball team is young, and it shows. In a cover-your-eyes kind of way, not a Fab Five way.

Wake Up Jill. The NAIA doesn't get the hype, but they are for real. Just last night NAIA teams scared DI teams all over the country.
Grace lead Indiana throughout the first half and was only down 6 with 10 mins to go before IU went on a small run.
Northwood handlely beat FIU.
Lindsay Wilson put a scare in Louisville just last week.
And the list goes on and on...

Bottom line, give the NAIA some credit. Its a pretty high level of basketball.

While I agree with all of the above, I sure hope we see a little more from our freshman kids. Unlike last year where our vets where well battle tested, only Drago had a significant amount of playing time.

And we shot less than 50% as a team shooting free throws last night. I know Coach H wants to whip these kids into men but he needs to find the fine line of progress and practice injuries.

Who will step up in the line of past freshman phenoms this year, Honeycutt, Lane, Moser? I still haven't a clue who will be the team leader as Anderson gets shakey at times. We have Butler coming up and Kansas not far down the road! I almost got ulcers watching our fantastic teams over the past 4 years. Where is that case of Mylanta I just bought!!!

Spoke too soon Bruinsrule... We just landed Josh Smith today, arguably the BEST big man for the class of 2010.

Now I am prayng we somehow "steal" Harrison Barnes away for UNC or Duke.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Taurus

Although the influences around now tend to give you endurance and stamina, you do have to watch that you're not straining your body too much, or trying to force yourself to do things that you don't want to do. Too much willpower can sometimes make you push yourself past your limits. You may be overspending to compensate, because you feel that you deserve a little reward for all your hard work. However, you'll have to pay the piper sooner or later!
