There are ball boys in the NBA with more talent.
My advice son is get all the education that UF offers because the next level for you is used often by carpenters and bricklayers.

He would be lost on the bench. He should stay at U of F for more seasoning.

Ah, Mr. Calathes, I thought you were smarter.

If you go into the NBA now, maybe you'll have a twenty-one year career like Robert Parish. But just maybe something happens, something you can't control, and you find your career at an end.

Yes, you're good. You're very good. But you'll still be that good (and possibly better) in 2 years. Plus you'll have a college degree.

You wouldn't want to disappoint one of your former teachers, would you?

Gee, did you hit the nail on the head. I would like to know who the supposed NBA scouts are that have projected him as a late first round pick. Are these the same guys that projected Walsh and Robertson as late first rounders too? I mean if reddick cannot make it in the NBA, Calathes isn't nearly as good, i.e., his defense is actually worse then reddicks. Sure, I would draft him in the first round so that he could wallow on the bench for two or three years, NOT.

Calathes needs to stay at UF. And this is coming from a Tennessee fan who would just as soon see him go away, although Bruce Pearl dominates Eddie Munster anyway.

shows how smart little nicky is. don't do it. he's a good passer, but a terrible defender. He will be nothing in the NBA without some good defense, just look at j.j. reddick, tremedous 3 point shooting, but no D.

Calathes is very good at the college level but the NBA is a grown man's league. He should stay two more years at UF. Nothing can make him better on the defensive end. He didn't show up against Penn State in the NIT game.

His best chance is to go to Greece.

The ONLY thing this MORON can do in Greece is be a waiter. He better know his saganaki from baklava. The Kid can't finish--that 2 inch vertical jump might have something to do with that----, doesn't really have a jump shot but rather a 1940's set shot, can't defend, makes bad floor decisions--Oh Hell!!! The kid can't play. AND he isn't even good looking enough to be a matinee idol in a European League. The kid Can't play!!!

Someone is feeding Nick bad advice. He has led this team to two unsuccessful NIT trips. What makes him think he is ready for the NBA? He has good size for a point guard and excellent passing skills. That's the plus side. He has proven to be a terrible free throw shooter when the game is on the line. He also has games where his offense disappears. His leaping ability is poor for a 6'6" b-ball player. I would hope that he would discuss this with Billy Donovan before hiring an agent. If he wants to play in Greece, he can do that after college. The Gators are short a big man and unless that changes this offseason, they'll be in the NIT again. Nick, they can lose in the NIT, with or without you. Stay in school another year and develop your end of game skills. Also, work on getting your shoes more than six inches off the ground. You're playing like a six footer right now. You need development.

I have to agree with most of the other comments on this page, Nick is not even close to being ready for the NBA. Most of Nick's good games are against mediocre talent and he rarely shows up when playing against quality opponents. He needs to stay in college at least another year to toughen up a bit. He should watch some of the really good former gator players and compare his game to theirs. In my opinion he's not nearly as good as them and they're struggling in the NBA.

One of the main reason so many great college players don't make it in the NBA is defense. I think Calathes is a really good player, but who could he stop on the defense in the league? His size is advantage on offense, but does not have the strength or quickness to stop quick guards. More time at college can only help.

If Calathes leaves it is only because he can't stand Donovan.

For EVERYBODY who reads Gator Country--"Coach Sayre" is Bill Koss. Is there any doubt!! He lives in Jacksonville. Sayre never seems to leave the scene. Instant analysis and the same level of butt kissing as all the other sycophants who frequent collegiate message boards. I was worried for awhile that it might actually be Billy's dad, but the old man would have been tougher on him than Bill Koss.

You must actually see Franz Beard interact with his peers in person to truly appreciate him.

Donovan needs to recruit two new guards and let Calathes get lost in the crowd of also-rans going pro.

About the only thing Bruce Pearl dominates is the exit speech when his pathetic teams loses time after time in the first round.

well, ill say i agree with him, agents are way to over priced today anyway! think of all the money he saves from hiring an agent!!!
possibly 10-40%....thats millions there saved..he just has got to know and understand all aspects of contracts and negotiations..
if i was in his place i would absolutlety do the same thing...but make sure he does not short hand himself...in negotiations!!!
