With all due respect to the family, doesn't the military have more urgent things to do than this?

The motto is "no man left behind" and the military owes the family the respect in finding his remains. Rob Simmons should be lauded for his efforts.

I'm 43 years old and can clearly too this day remember the years of my life while vietnam went on, older brothers , cousins, uncles, fathers. How dear you even have the nerve to write such a stupid comment! First off you fool these are men and women not the military (directly) who take part in these special recovery operations. Many times its ex-army/marines/navy. You see (Silly) as you rightly name yourself! Some people still care / remember painfully a life wasting war that war was! What it did to our nation and incase your not paying attention to the politicians the major vietnam that is always brought up as a case against ever getting involved in any war or invasion. Too all the vets who have served and sadly had to read this idiots comment I am sorry to you and thank you for your service! I am personaly moved and affected still from the vietnam war as it affected very much me growing up. My father a Navy man and I fought many times over our involvment overthere and years later with a heavy heart admitted I was right. My whole family has served in the military in every war or service except grenada (which would have been my time actualy) except myself that after vietnam / nixon just couldn't trust our gov't to do the right thing anymore. But I have thee most utmost respect for our vets and this country (I just don't trust the politicians) thats all.God Bless the USA and the men and women who have fought / died / and have been buried under her red white and blue colors!!!!!!!(Silly your an idiot!

Excuse me, as a person who had lost a loved one class '64 in Vietnam, I would have been very saddened to hear this answer. You are blessed to have your loved ones near you. The Army can and will take care of what it needs to do to keep this country safe.

My nephew just finished two tours in Afganistan and Iraq. Semper Fi is still with him and he is proud to be, just like his dad in Vietnam, a Marine.
