Killing one here and one there isn't accomplishing anything. We need to get serious about eradicating these "giant rabbits" called white tailed deer. They kill people. They destroy property. They mate without a thought that some young child or an old church lady may be watching. We don't need this wilderness porn. That's what the internet is for.

We need to organize HERD (Herd Eradication and Rapid Death) Squads to go in and take out entire herds of these woodland vermin. Automatic weapons, claymoor mines, napalm, low level nuclear devices, the choices are endless.

Let's do it NOW. Let's send these pinko deer back to the stone age and set them on the precipice of extinction. Now is the time, before it's too late, and before we find that the deer are hunting US.

The only good deer is a dead deer. If people wanna see em, go to the zoo. This is WAR.

Of course there is a rush -- that is why it is called "The Thrill of the Hunt" after all...
However, I don't hunt for trophies. I hunt for meat and I eat what I kill. I know of only a few hunters that hunt solely for big bucks, and every one of them uses the meat from their deer, no matter what. True hunters find it criminal to waste an animal by not making use of the meat. Anyone who will kill an animal simply for antlers or horns, and who wastes the meat, is not a hunter, he's a poacher.
You got it!! As for the taste, texture, and tenderness, I prefer Doe meat as opposed to Buck But that twelve pointer I got last season, sure looks good on the wall!

We have way too many deer in Ohio, and the land they normally inhabit is being reduced annually by more and more development. Deer have few natural predators left (coyotes, bobcats, etc.), as we have exterminated most of those over the years. Natural selection is not keeping the deer population in check, so it is time to expand hunting opportunities.
Yes. I live in nice suburb with much open land and there are way too many deer. It is impacting other animals because they eat up all of the plants. Thinning the herd will definitely make the deer population healthier and help other species. Plus it is a good source of meat.

On the last day of gun season we were looking for a deer that we had shot late in the evening the night before, once we found it a small doe jumped out in front of me and I brought it down in one shot. It field dressed at 50lbs. You want a tender deer there ya go.

That's probably because, unlike wolves, coyotes are solitary animals who hunt alone.
That must be why they sing and call to one another when one makes a kill.

Excuse me for being wrong, oh Enlightened One in All Areas.

But wait, what's this?
The coyote is an opportunistic predator that uses a variety of hunting techniques to catch small mammals likes rabbits and squirrels, which comprise the bulk of its diet. Although it hunts alone to catch small prey, it may join with others in hunting larger mammals like young deer or a pony.
Seems you know as much about wildlife as you do politics.

Good catch, though it seems they often hunt in couples, as you said, for larger prey - occasionally in small packs. Larger prey is not typical of their diet, however. Their primary diet is small prey and mode is solitary hunting, according to Wikipedia.
If you recall, my original post referred directly to "packs of coyotes chasing deer."

Opportunistic feeders, and there's plenty o' rodents in the fields everywhere around here.
Please do elaborate on the latter.
Just being a smart aleck. Sorry.

I can see both sides of this. Many deer, with their range decreasing and the lack of natural predators will starve, or die of debilitating disease brought on by lack of food. They are also involved in all kinds of auto accidents each year. Not to mention Grump's expensive landscaping.
On the other hand, we have moved relentlessly into areas that they used to inhabit freely, and they are now moving back in as their numbers are increasing dramatically.
I suppose it is up to humans to manage this population as best we can via controlled hunting, which I cannot oppose.
Having said that...any of you guys I catch on my property stalking a deer is gonna have problems, my land is safe haven.
For the time being, I'll get whatever meat I need at the grocery store.
And hunters, do me one favor will ya? When you shoot one, make sure you kill it, and if you don't, track it and finish the job. Each year it seems I see one more wounded deer that some guy shot, didn't kill, and then didn't want to go after. Fair enough?
IF men Dont see it fall They dont usually get the wounded deer. Most men of today couldnt track an elephant walking in newly fallen snow. It is a lost art.

SO men. Practice Gun control.... Hit your target so they dont run off to far. Learn were to place your shot so that it is effective. Not just shoot at the animal in general.

I have known of more wounded deer Being shot and lost by bow hunters than shot and recoverd. The ability to track a wounded deer should be proven before a bow permit is granted.

Most people dont know. BLOOD LOSS is what kills when bow hunting. Not the Shock or large damage of a 1500 fps bullet hitting something.

A deer must lose 30% of its total blood before it will not be able to run any more. SO if you dont get a good shot. Or dont have Razor sharp equipment. To create that loss. Your just gonna criple it to die in some other field. A waste of another of Gods creatures For no reason.

I dont mind people feeding their family. Just make sure you dont harm 5 to get 1.

Yes My husband deer hunts. He also watches videos constantly to help him make the most of his time in the field.

I just wish the venison was as tasty as corn fed beef.

Wow! I'm not sure how you know this but I can't even remember when me or anyone in my family couldn't find a deer that was hit, bow or gun. Typically if we don't find it right away we go out first thing and find it. You really should convince the people that you know who hunt to setup their equipment properly if they wound 5 to get 1, I can see why you're upset if you believe everyone hunts like that, most of us don't.

As a hunter, I've always found it easier to kill a deer whose willing to cut it's own throat when gut shot.

Have a good day

Thomas Oscrum is an idiot. He has pity for Bobby Cutts and thinks he should be allowed to live, after killing his girlfriend and her baby, dumping them in the woods, and leading a search team, in the wrong places.

Oscrum is a filthy slimeball.

Give the gun hunters more time to hunt! Look at the season that bow hunters get and then what the gun hunter gets. There is NO difference in setting in a stand or ground blind just because your hunting tools are different. Let the gun hunter have some of that pre rut/rut time to. Say maybe a full week in early october. Better yet do away with ALL special seasons and just go to A DEER SEASON period. I handgun hunt but can only do so during gun season and get to compeat with the long gun hunters how about a handgun only season? The only CURE earlier and longer seasons for ALL
