MY PRAISE AND CONGRATULATIONS GO OUT TO LeVON FOR THIS GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT. KAREN, YOU ARE THE PICTURE OF WHAT JESUS WOULD HAVE DONE. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE IN LeVON'S LIFE BUT HE MADE A HUGE CHOICE TO LET YOU HELP HIM. BLIND SIDE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU AND LeVON. I SURE WISH YOU WOULD WIN THE RUDY AWARD. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HE DESERVES IT.

Great story of two great human beings. It does not get any better than the two of them.

I am so tired of reading propaganda like this story. He played a sport, worked a job, and attended college; and he deserves praise and a story written about him?

Wonderful, uplifting story about a young man whose bio could, and by all odds should, read much differently. To attend college, play as a non-scholarship athlete in Division 1, and work the schedule he did and still graduate is a huge accomplishment. I wonder what BORED AND BIG JOHNSON, given the same childhood, would have done with their lives. My guess is LeVon will be signing both of their paychecks someday.

I haven't even read this story yet, but have seen posts from BIG JOHNSON and BORED on other stories. It is sad that you seem to go thru life with a negative attitude, and even sadder that your try to bring everyone else down with your statements. Anytime I can hear about good things-bring them on! I like GOOD!

This is an important story because this young man is where he is because of the guidance he recieved, but most importantly, his hard work. I had Levon as a student. He will go far in life. Go Levon!

Great, wonderful story. Inspirational. I too like hearing positive stories and dislike the constant criticism and negativity.

I agree with Westerville Parent regarding negative attitudes. This young man overcame a lot. What an inspiration for others who have been in his shoes. I also admire Karen Armstrong for her courage and tenacity.

People can change and others will be bless folds in their life for being a helping hand . Levon, you are a inspiration in so many that are in your shoes and that were . Don't look back ever , I know you'll never forget the pass but you were the chosen one to achieve and not go the other way . You are a role model for so many children that are where you use to be , it was so good to wake up this morning and read something so good in the paper about a adult teenage going in the right direction due to the situation you once live . And for Karen , I know it was a difficult choice you had to make but look what you achieve with your helping hand ,you as well as Levon are a role model that we all can learn from, keep up the excellent work you will be rewarded !

We need more news like this. I wholeheartedly ditto the remarks of Jan Rhodes and Working Stiff. This young man deserves the Rudy Award. And Karen deserves an award, too. Go Levon & Karen!!

I'm very inspired by both LaVon Morefield and Karen Armstrong. What a testament to the human spirit. I hope LaVon will keep being a strong, vibrant, successful, and inspiring man to all who cross his path, whether in person on in a story in a newspaper. I personally believe he will do GREAT!

Here is the saint and role model all of you are patronizing and fawning over.
Take a look at the pictures and verbiage.

LeVon, you know how much you are loved by your family, i know how hard it was being without parents for you. Your mother is my youngest daughter, so you know I know the real story....Karen was a great help to you and her concern is greatly appreciated. It seems to me that part of her story is not factual, and she may contact me at charleygreek@gmail.com so she may get HER facts straight.
You have worked hard son, and you have the ability to achieve any goal you may set in life.
We love you and good luck; hoping that you win "The Rudy", MaMa, Aunt Stephanie, Cliff and the entire Ramirez Family

Concidering where the young man came from and the choices he had in life, yes it is newsworthy. He could be sitting in prison with his brother, but because someone saw the good in him he chose to be a productive citizen. Sad that you can't see the value.

If you taught him spelling and sentence composition, then he better be real good at football.

Do you completely understand English grammar? You're missing a verb there, as in "had better." Better is NOT a verb.

Really, criticizing someone for a petty typo? That's mean and low.

Way to go Levon and Karen.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Cancer

If you want to make changes to your working environment or career prospects, do your best to get on with your colleagues today. It's a powerful Lunar Eclipse, so the Moon-ruled could encounter opposition as the knives come out. Perhaps someone objects to the way you're doing things, or maybe they're just plain jealous. Ensure that you're acting in everyone's best interests and not just your own, or you'll really land in hot water!
