Yeah that schedule serves a purpose....some patsies, and then the Big Ten (11) schedule.

Ultimately it means yet another NON-Nat'l. Title season for the overrated team from Crappy Valley.

This scehdule does nothing to help Penn State! It all comes down to the fact that with only 11 teams there are some teams that will not play each other. Add to that teh fact that the Big 10 does not have a conference championship game means another year without a national championship. When is PSU going to schedule any of their old "traditional" rivalries that they played for years?

In 2005 South Florida and Central Michigan both finished above .500 in the regular season (USF went to a Bowl game, too), something that no team on this year's OOC schedule may end up doing.

So rhey have Alabama scheduled in 2010, who else is on the non-conference schedule? Did Coastal carolina get scheduled again? In these day saying a team went to a bowl game doesn't mean near as much as it used to. Too many bowl games to placate all the minor conferences and don't be surprised if they keep adding bowl games.

George: PSU has one of their traditional rivals on the schedule this year as well as last year in Syracuse. When PSU was independent, they played Syracuse every season for over 45 years. Sounds pretty traditional to me. And to the rest of the PSU bashers- don't forget that Syracuse was a 10-win team when we scheduled them, and Alabama would have already been on the schedule had they not asked for a postponement in the series.

Sorry. I don't agree. With the nation's lack of respect towards the Big Ten and the absence of a true conference title game, Penn State and any other Big Ten team needs to shoot for 12-0, but against quality OOC opponents. If Penn State is 12-0, a Big 12 team is 12-0 and an SEC team is 12-1 at the end of the season, guess who'll be left out of the big game.

Hmmmm? Maybe the Big 10 team????? The conference needs a balanced conference schedule wher each team plays all of the other teams or go to 2 divisions and have a conference championship game like most of the other conferences.

Rutgers and Virginia are in the future and I believe this year is so crappy because Nebraska backed out of a deal. Also, PSU couldn't get an agreement done with UNC which was at one point in time going to happen. Outside or USC and OSU what big time programs are scheduling strong OOC games?

Syracuse???? You may as well add temple to thhsi conversation. Then we are back to teams of similar mediocrity like Coastal Carolina! I am not a PSU basher, I like PDU but i do look at reality. ALL of the Big 10 teams need to strengthen their non-conference schedule to validate their seasons. Heck, OSU has USC on theirs Central Florida has had Texas on their schedule for the past several years!

To add to your little bowl game rant ... you know if you played in a legit bowl game or not. Like remember the name of the bowl game Pitt supposedly played in last year ...??

PSU made it to the Rose Bowl ... and please recall that Evan Royster and Stephon Green went down with injuries.

What are you trying to say? Yes, PSU playe din a top bowl game and Pitt didnt! My point, as well as most others is the entire Big Ten needs to strengthen their non-conference schedule/opponentes to get more consideration for the end of the year polls. Alabama could be a good start, but what about the remaining non-conference games? The Big 10 needs to be the big 10+2(not +1) and have a conference playoff to be considered equals with the true Big 12 and SEC.

Look at Georgia non con schedule and then look at ours. They could have found someone other than Akron.
We could have found someone in the big 12 or sec. Early prediction psu and Georgia in the capital one bowl. Looks like recruiting for next year looks solid.
Go PSU

How on earth does having this schedule make them a more likely national championship contender? Oh wait, it probably does, and that is just one of the many flaws of College Football.
Let's say Penn State does go unbeaten this year. With the competition they have, will the voters really give them the nod over say, a SEC team with one loss that was tested 5 or 6 times during the year? For our sake, I hope they do not because it will be a replay of the Rose Bowl this past year.

Alabama's screwed after they got suspended for 3 years. I dont see why Penn State should play them now. Alabama's recruiting and teams for the next 5 years atleast will be terrible. NO one wants to play for a team that has to forefit every game they play. No one wants to play for nothing. So by Penn State playing them, it'll do them no good. Lets bring another SEC team into the mix. That'll be the true test. GO State!

I am tired of excusses. Why not play Maryland and Pitt every year? Both are in stronger conf and are quality opponents.

Shouldn't the ticket prices go down this year for this?

A national championship..yeah right. Who in there right mind would vote for a school that plays weak ass teams like Eastern Illinois? Even if we went 12-0 I think it would be very unlikely that we could make it past the top 5.

Daily Horoscope for November 8

Cancer

Try to find a balance while the Moon passes through your second house of personal finances, challenging deceptive Neptune in your house of other people's money. You may be giving away too much, whether it's tangible or intangible things. Then again, this is a potentially spiritual time for you. Just remember, you don't have to give away everything and join a convent to be cleansed.
