Give the young man the benefit of the doubt. Ultimately, his success or failure in life rests in his hands and no one else.

We need backs not excuses.
Mark, no one is making excuses for the young man. If he can't pass the ACT then he won't play--that sounds pretty simple to me. By the way, what did you get on your ACT scores? Did you play college football? Did your coach bench you until you got better scores on a test?

Remember that Eddie George had to go Ft. Valley Academy to get his grades straight. He seemed to come out ok from a little setback. Carlos seems to be taking responsibility for his situation which shows maturity. Good luck to him and hopefully we'll see him in 2010.

after constant tutoring and cajoling, the kid can't score the minimum....How bout getting kids who study their ass off and play football...IT IS COLLEGE, you know; i.e., institute of HIGHER LEARNING, not a go between for an NFL-OR-BUST mentality.

after tutoring, cajoling, and catering, the kid can't score the minimum! College is an INSTITUTE for HIGHER LEARNING, not a place for an NFL OR BUST mentality.(See also, Jamal Berry gets off with a felony amount of drugs in his car!) When will "win at ALL costs" eventually turn on all of us as Americans: See last election, when voters understood little and voted for the "cool" guy! Tanya Tucker said it best in song..."they'll bidding America goodbye!"

Give the scholarship to a "Student Athlete". There are too many of these guys in College Athletics already. If a kid can't get 17 on an ACT after going to school for 12 years, he is not a candidate for Ohio State University
