I think an indoor/ outdoor waterpark would be ideal for this community, and surrounding areas. I think the idea is great, not to mention the jobs it will bring to the area... i say horray Timothy Sanford, see we do as parents actually listen to our kids. Cant wait until it is completed, you have my vote!!!

Ohio can use all the family fun parks it can get. Hope they can keep prices family-friendly.

Being in Lodi, they can probably hire the Klan for security.

Lodi can become another Aurora.

They already have The Shops at Lodi shopping experience like Aurora Farms shopping, now they add a water park like the Geauga Wild Kingdom Water Park, and yahoo we have a vacation destination.

Is there room for two of these experiences within 1 hour of Akron/Cleveland is the question?

First off, the Klan hasn't been here for a long time. I know that was probably a joke, but I LOVE this town and rumors like that is what keeps people out of Lodi.
Second, I think the water park would be great for the area. I hope the new mayor and other residents help it happen.

This will be different than Aurora, largely because this is an indoor waterpark, which means that it will be open year round. They have three of them in Sandusky alone, so I don't really see why the Akron/Canton area wouldn't support another. Besides, I am sure the developer has done his homework on this and knows the market better than any of us.

There is also talk of a water park coming to Chippewa Lake. Some of the property arond the old park has been bought and alot of serveying has been done. Also building condos around the lake itself has been talked about. That would put 2 water parks 10 minutes between each other. Although i dont know if Chippewas will be an indoor or not.

Lets see - talk of a water park in Chippewa Lake, Wadsworth and now Harrisville Township. I'm sure this developer knows his water parks as his kids gave him the idea and he owns a car wash! As for the Klan comment I believe that gentleman now lives in West Salem, OH. I suppose he could commute!

Great, Medina county has been fighting over water rights in this area for over 10 years (they created some group to stop development by Wayne county) and now someone shows up to suck the area dry for some water park in the middle of farmland. We farmers will see our wells dry up. I'm sure the county will sell us our own water back though. The outlet mall is empty all week long and was recently sold by Prime retail because they couldn't make money with it. Is the new owner of the outlet mall involved in this as well? A quick google search of Ohio Station, LLC leads you to Gilad development and they attempted to build water parks at least twice in the past and failed to get support. I hope someone takes a close look at what this will do to our rural township. If the new mayor is so gung ho for this why don't they build it in Lodi and why doesn't he leave us in the township alone?

I was thinkin' the Grand Poobah could be found in Lakemore or Reminderville, but I'll take your good word for it. "Hood"-rats of a different color, eh?

Chippewa Lake. Great memories. The classic wooden rollercoaster, the beautiful dance floor. Recall when Firestone held their annual employee picnic out there. Those were the days. Great place for a water park for the young'ns.

If you are worried about water turn your attention toward the gravel pits. Regards to the outlet mall, more stores will come in because of the draw of people. Living right off 71 with an exit and on ramp, did you think we would not develop, with the two truck stop, car dealership, outlet mall, restaurants, car wash etc. we quit being a rural area long ago. The water park will but Lodi back on the map as a respectable town once again with so much to offer the entire area.

If you hate this idea then I would tell you to move about 70 miles west. We can't get water in Harrisville Twp because of people like you. I saw on the news (channel 3) that the one near Cedar Points has gave 2.5 MILLION DOLLAR in taxes to that community. How much have you gave. I bet it's not near that. Remember before Walt Disney put his park in Fla, it was a swamp. It's time to keep moving forward instead staying still.

Don't stand in the way of progress. It's not fair to your neighbors and the community at large.

Clearly a developer is going to research the market before making a huge investment.

The more there is to do, the more people will want to come to the area and the more it can grow.

Have no fear though... if you don't want to support growth, you don't have to. Buy as much land as you can, or at least hold on to what you already own, and NEVER SELL IT. If you are lucky, growth will happen anyways....just maybe, this terrible thing called growth will enable the farm you plan on willing to your children to be far more valuable to them then it could ever be now.

I don't mean to sound harsh. I know the small family farm is a way of life for many in this area. And the thought of change is scary, but really what is there to be afraid of?

If you still have many years of active farming left in your life, then let the area get developed, sell your land for top dollar, and find a farm twice as large some where else where land is cheaper and farm even MORE.

You can choose not to sell, and keep on doing what you always have, its OK!!!

But you'd also have the option of selling for FAR more money then now, and have the economic freedom to pursue something different if you want.

Why must so many people try to take away the ability of another person to make a choice, because they are against it for themselves.

You already have the ability to not sell your land if you don’t want to. Please don’t take action to prevent your neighbor’s land from drastically increasing in value, they might want or need to sell in the future, and that’s not fair to them.

you cannot get water in harrisville because you're NOT in the great lake's watershed. you are beyond the divide and can NOT draw water from Lake Erie. "TIME", Don't blame a farmer that has been there far longer than the mall, dealerships, ect. the existing ground water is NOT an unlimited source of water. first there, first served.

oh wait, you could just hire Lodi's law director, Lesiak, he'll find a way to steal some water... hear he is good at working both sides of the fence...

I think you are an IDIOT for many reasons. First off, we are in the GREATER CLEVELAND AREA. That means development. If you were to live in poedunk Wayne County, yes, I would side with you. However the entire Medina County is part of the Greater Cleveland Metro. What that means is DEVELOPMENT. Things are going to happen. You HAVE to accept that. Look at other towns around us prospering. Why do people want to keep lodi back in the 1920's klan days. Lodi has such the potential to be a beautiful town if only the "lets keep lodi poor crappy and small like the past 30 years" people will just STEP DOWN. I'm speaking to not just you harrisville twp resident, but rather all the residents of Harrisville twp. If you moved here for peace, well you moved to the wrong place. Try NOT moving to a greater cleveland metro next time!

you have the wrong attitude. if the local people don't want it, their feelings should come first. especially when the development adversely affects the well-being of the existing residents.

tapping into a limited supply of ground water is going to hurt a lot of people. who is going to pay for drilling hundreds of wells deeper? who is going to pay for the infrastructure and eventual water lines to feed this monster? my guess is the tax payers of the township and even the whole county are going to pay the bill!

and, how often have you seen a developer beg for property tax breaks, set up a business and then walk away from a community when the tax breaks expire?

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
