I am so sickened by this stupidity. We live in a society with so many crazed losers. People need to wake up and get their heads out of the sand. This will never end until we stand together and take back our kids and communities. This young man died with fear in his heart, imagine if that was your kid.

These is a very sad thing. I don't understand why gangbangers go out and shoot inocent people. It would seem they know who a gangbanger is, and who's not a gangbanger. Just the fact that he didn't respond should have been a sign that he wasn't in a gang. Another thing I don't understand is where this beef between Latinos and African Americans came from. While we're out here hating and killing each other (both people of color, and in the same economic, and sociological pot) other races are laughing. This has got to stop! We can't even live side by side in peace, because of these gangbangers. Please think before you go out and make life ending decisons.

I can not believe that Lamont thinks that "people of other races are laughing" about this. Something is wrong with his thinking. This is a tragedy for the whole city, I don't think that anyone is laughing.

It is my understanding the Latino gang new initiation tactic is to shoot/kill female black teachers and blacks{PERIOD} Mr & Mrs Shaw, this is a hate crime committed by Latino gang members. This is going to be a long Summer and, the wrong time to implement budget cuts. Call the National Guard, get Federal assistance - PLEASE. Gang members carry guns, why shouldn't we?

With all the violence and glorification of gang culture perpetuated by the music industry and black culture, this senseless murder doesn't come as any surprise.

Nonetheless my heartfelt condolence to the family of Jamiel Shaw.

Los Angeles' Mayor is to busy doing everything he can to get amnesty for illegal aliens. Which is also why he's spending so much time on the campaign trail with Clinton. He needs to be here taking care of Los Angeles and cleaning up this place. If we get rid of illegal aliens, that would bring gang crime down. Call your government and have them pass the S.A.V.E Act (Secure America through Verification and Enforcement) Act. This will get rid of a lots of problems in the U.S. including many economic whoas. This is not racist, it right. After all, Mexico enforces it's laws against illegals in Mexico.

If the music industry and black culture in general continue glorifying gang violence and racist language especially the use of the N word, the murders and senseless deaths of innocent bystanders will continue unabated.

Blaming illegal immigrants for a mostly black problem is lame to say the least. Most immigrants come to this country to work hard and do jobs that most black are either to lazy or stupid to do.

And even Obama won't be able to root out the black problem.

It just absolutely breaks my heart to read this. As a former Angeleno, I still have great interest in the area and its happenings. I have also been up to date with the unfortunate turn of events in Southern California, in regards to the Latino/Black gang violence that has taken on ominous racial overtones.

Jamiel was a good kid that got good grades and was a star football player with unlimited potential and future. That he was executed in seemingly random and cold blooded fashion just tears me apart. And to think that his mother, already serving in a dangerous environment, honorably serving her country, has to come home and face this unbearable tragedy.

I pray one day there is some sort of solution to this madness and insanity. Decades ago at least the gangs and their shot callers and head honchos had some code of honor. They would never have tolerated targetting innocent citizens including infants and children. The gangs today have no such code.

Your comments are absolutely ridiculous. It is not just African-Americans shooting people, nor is it a "black problem". Continue to humor yourself acting like latinos do not commit hate crimes, or perpetuate the gang problem. Yes, they do need to get a handle on the words spoken in the music our children hear, but at the same time other people of other races are also mocking this behavior as well. These issues must be address starting at home, and with every race. I hear latinos calling each other names as well slang names as well. There are many latinos who glorify gang life as well. You are in denial, acting as if hispanics do not commit crimes, or that they commit lessor crimes. Most of the stories I hear on the news are of latinos killing other people. This has been an ongoing problem, and the bottom line is that it needs to be addressed. Keep on closing your eyes and denying the truth, maybe you will believe it one day. No one is blaming illegal immigrants for a "mostly black (humor me)" problem. The reality is that there have been many many cases profiled that involve latinos killing innocent African-Americans because of their race. WAKE UP!!!!!

I would expect this kind of idiotic statement from only a Mexican. I guess MS13 and all the other Hispanic gangs that have infested this country are choir boys? Go Home!

(To John Guz) I've worked in the music industry for many, many decades in A&R, and to be truthful, during the past decade and a half, it's White record executive who are dictating that only violent rap and negative music is promoted on Black air waves and music videos. If you are Black and want to do positive love music, the doors are shut to you. What's odd is statistics show that, financially, "gangsta" rap and negative Black music is not as lucrative as the Black R&B, yet doors acre continually shut in the faces of the many positive R&B singers who, a couple of decades ago would have been allowed to become major acts. Blacks don't own the major record companies, radio stations or music video networks. They are just being pimped to perform murder music, like the pied piper. After all, payola is illegal because if you play certain songs, people will "mechanically" become attracted to them and buy it. It's our own White record execs who are pushing murder music on these kids. Blacks have always been capable of unique, fantastic singing voices. These days, those singing voices are being locked out by the narrow minded record execs. LET THE RECORD SHOW THAT J.B. ESQUIRE HAS SPOKEN.

(YEAH JOHN GUZ) Music on th airwave is only what big record companies will allow and we all know that they are now Black or from the ghetto. They tan in Malibu. People should protest against the record companies for only allowing one type of (Negative) music on African American stations. Kids are easily influenced. By the way, I work for the school district and most of the the out of control kids I've come across are illegal aliens or their parents are illegal aliens, who we can not ignore the 1,200 pound elephant in the room. I agree that America need to call their representatives and ask them to pass the S.A.V.E Act (Secure America through Verification and Enforcement) Act. If all illegal aliens came here to work, then why are most of them on welfare and medical?

Other young athletes in recent past have been killed for no reason. How about this, a possible motive of jealousy. Its a long-shot, but a possibility. Even if it was a random act, it is totally tragic. My heart goes out to the family. He was a good kid and very accomplished. It is amazing the lack of respect for human life. He deserved to live. Life is precious and all deserve the dignity of being able to live out their full years.
