Seabee Accomplishments To date over 800,000 men and women have served our country through the Seabees and CEC, taking part in an array of vital missions throughout the world. These include: Construction of over 400 advance bases during World War II at such remote locations as: Iwo Jima Okinawa Guadalcanal North Africa Trinidad and the Caribbean Tinian Guam South Pacific New Guinea Normandy Invasion Philippines Aleutians You can make fun of the military on Veteran's Day as long as you want to. My dad served in the Seebees. I feel very sorry for you because you don't respect our military on Veteran's Day. Y'all ought to be ashamed of yourselves. My dad and the other military helped this country be free. My dad died; and I miss him. Don't you feel bad? If you don't, you don't have a heart for our veterans on this wonderful Veteran's Day. I SAY 'THANK YOU' TO ALL OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN THAT HAVE SERVED, ARE SERVING, AND ARE GOING TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY TO FIGHT FOR AMERICA'S FREEDOM!:| This is what my dad had responsible for until he started his own construction company that he owned for 55+ years until the day that he passed away: The Guadalcanal Campaign provided the proving ground for Naval Construction Battalions and their need for the campaigns to follow in the Pacific. At its peak over 258,000 Seabees and CEC officers were on duty in World War II. Eventually, 150 Naval Construction Battalions and 41 Construction Battalion Specials were established and served around the world on all continents. One hundred thirty-five CBMUs were formed. One hundred eighteen Construction Detachments and five Pontoon Assembly Detachments were also formed. Other services, and the rest of the Navy itself, were lost on the distinction among the unit types. They all became known as Seabees. My dad, I know went to Guam. He told me that! He talked a lot, but not about the Navy too much. He had a business that he owned and ran very succuessfully because of being in the United States Navy (Seebees).........
