UH's 2-6 mark makes a win tonight a must - Hawaii Sports

Full story: Honolulu Star-Bulletin

Never thought I'd hear the words "must win" in the same sentence as "Utah State." Used to be "guaranz win." And it was not that long ago, it just seems like it.

The correct spelling is lose (antonym - win) not loose (antonym - tight).

Although some perks are paid by Na Koa, the football booster team, McMackin's salary is paid out of tax revenues.

Where is the buyout money to come from if we break McMackin's contract? Don't say "Mufi"s Train" because that is a capital budget expense whereas salaries are paid out of the operating budget.

Furthermore, tax revenues cannot be transferred from one level of government (the county) to another (the state) without legislative action except in the case of a major emergency such as a tsunami. A losing coach is not an emergency.

Would you prefer that teachers take another furlough day? Or should we reduce the number of prison guards or health workers giving out H1N1 shots?

How about everyone in the state donationg 100 HI-5 cans and bottles for the redemption fees. That will be in about $2.5 million - maybe McMackin will accept that amount as a compromise.

Compared to what happened at Fort Hood or the tens of thousands around the worldwho've died in natural disasters over the past couple of years, a losing coach is way, way down the list of bad things.

Hawaii should win tonight at home against Utah State. Just don't turn the ball over excessively, and don't commit silly penalties. Let's win one tonight. Then, we'll worry about the next opponent. Talking about winning against N.M. State and S.J. State is way too premature. One at a time, please.

Haole means foreign or foreiner in the Hawaiian language. Haole, in its current definition, first became associated with the children of Caucasian immigrants in the 1820's. So yes he is a haole.
You must be a ingnorant haole!

After the fact hindsight vision is always 20-20. But I did wonder about Utah St's interior DL players going 5'10" 275, and the other 6' 2" 262. I thought these were old numbers, but maybe not. Hawaii sure exploited a soft underbelly for 300+ yards rushing. I am so glad the coaching staff did not ignore the running game. Nothing is better than a win.
