Teams have always cheated because they can

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

This isn't about re-indicting Bill Belichick for his videotaping sins, or any other forms of cheating he may have committed in his tenure as coach of the New England Patriots.

When did technology take away character? I saw no "Sony HD Character Remover" at Best Buy! If you take property that doesn't belong to you, you are a thief, period. If you cheat, you are a cheater, period. If you lie you are a liar, period. If you steal music over the internet, you're a thief, and it isn't Napster's or the Artist's fault. If you break the rules to gain an unfair advantage over your opponent, you're a cheat, and your job in the NFL pays 10 times a great annual income at a minimum. You sold your character for money, so what do you call that?
Don't blame technology for your actions, they are your actions, MAN UP! I am so tired of moral weaklings and "it depends on the definition of "is" is" logic that Clinton (not GW) made so popular. A real man wouldn't want the win by cheating, the rest are little boys in mens bodies. Spoiled rotten millionaire ego maniacs who cheat for nothing more than ego. At least a starving thief is doing it to survive. At least Ricky Williams wasn't trying to cheat - he just wasnted a buzz- no one ever called pot "performance enhancing"!
PLEASE, don't rationalize for this midget of a man who coaches the Pats. He showed his real character, or lack of it when intervied after the loss to the Colts last year, and again when he was caught cheating. He's a poor excuse for a man. Period. too bad for the players on that team, being lead by a moral midget. Careful, you might get some on you.

Bricker would know about cheating, he is a member of one of the most cheating organizations in the world. The Sun-Sentinel, in every way and every day cheats the public it serves by "a culture of secrecy and questionable manipulation of the U.S. Constitution". If only the public were aware of the tiny number of elites who set the tone for what is called 'reporting' here in South Florida, they would be shocked. When we have corrupt politicians and businesses, the media has failed to do its job. Just like the corruption in the NFL, it only exists because hypocrites like Bricker have gone way out of their way to ignore it. While he is paid to look deeper into subjects, Bricker doesn't have the time. He can be bought off with a couple of hot dogs and a few column inches of ads. If Bricker doesn't toe the line, his ad manager pulls him aside and has a word or two. Bricker, like most who work for the Sun-Sentinel, is a mediocre talent with limited capabilities. He knows it and like any lap dog, will lick the feet of his master in order to keep the paychecks coming. Often, those corrupt in public service are beholding to those corrupt in the media. Consider the low pay and poor working conditions for the majority working for the Sun-Sentinel. Consider the drug addicts and alchoholics the Sun-Sentinel abuses by enticing them to stand in the street and get killed for a quarter. It is shameful and Bricker is just a screaming idiot and hypocrite. Thank God for Mayo, he makes Bricker look good. Here's the future for South Florida residents: Bricker as social commentator. Ug!

Not enough emphasis in the article as to why the evidence was destroyed by Goodel.

Bricker condemns 31 other teams for cheating based on Howie Longs opinion that everyone else is doing it? Long is a nut case.

The whole thing about New England getting caught is that is was a repeat offense. When you get caught and warned then keep on doing it...... well I'd say that is a strong indication that NE and their erstwhile coach were willing to risk everything to win illegally. Yes illegally. What they did was a crime and what Goodell did by destroying the tape was a bigger crime. Goodell and his predecessor need to be investigated thoroughly. I personally think the NFL has been corrupt for a long time.

My MIGHTY NY GIANTS will bitchslap the paisely Patriots because cheaters never win.

But, my dilemna?

I want another team to bust the 72 fish 'perfect' season AND I want to support my superior NY GIANTS.

Alas, I got my knickers in a twist.

Gotta ponder this one some more.

Exactly. Belicheat was warned by the NFL prior to getting busted. That's what many people don't realize. And that's why the punishment was too light.

As for the tape being destroyed, Goodell knew the tape would tarnish his image.

Can stop beating on the horse now.It stopped moving a while ago.
One last time , the Pats were fined for having a camera on the field instead of the coach booth.A rule that came out this year.
Still don't get it ?

I'm sick and tired of hearing its O.K., everybody does it. Look, to any and all like Howie Long who say so but don't give examples. I don't doubt others have cheated but if your not going to give examples from experience than quit painting with such a broad brush. Demeaning other individuals with basic statements like 'everbody does it' only sounds like sour grapes or a bad excuse. Quit being vague and start giving the goods to back up what you say.

Whatever happened to the "tuck rule"?

Isn't it strange it was the first and last time we've seen it? Can't wait until somebody sends Brady out on a stretcher.

This article is about something that happened five months ago . And this is from the writer that was crying in a blog about the entertainment reporters being at media week and upstaging the sports reporters . If the super bowl would be played the week after the final playoff games , that wouldn't happen . Now an article about cheating . Looks like he is out of original ideas .

Nobody cheats as much as the Patriots. They should be called the New England Asterisks if they win (of course by cheating) on Sunday. Don Shula (a man with integrity and class) will be there. If the Asterisks, by some fluke, win on Sunday and if Shula is to present Belicheat with the trophy, I hope Shula walks up to the cheater, spits on the trophy, and then drops it on the floor breaking it into 19 pieces. Then Shula can just walk away laughing.

Maybe that's because there never was such a rule. It was as phony as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. There's a whole set of rules just for Brady, like if you rush him and get near him it's a 15 yard penalty. If you actually touch him, it's roughing the passer, especially after he flops to the ground looking up at the gay ref with his sad eyes. I've never seen Brady's uniform dirty because no one is allowed to touch him. The National Fixed League decided this year that they wanted a golden boy to go undefeated and they are determined that this will happen. The refs are in on it. It's a joke. If the game is close, look for a key pass interference call on a pass to Randy Moss to determine the game. The refs have been told to call this if the game appears in doubt - just chuck it to the end zone and we'll put you on the 1 year line, 1st and goal. And if the Pats should fumble it away, we the refs will make up a holding call to give you the ball back. It's all been predetermined, like professional wrestling.
