See I heard it was more of a pushing him out the door than a mutual agreement. That really must make being a head coach a very stressfull job. You could win 10 championships, turn around and have one bad season and they will can u.

Maybe the University of Tennessee will finally do something about Fulmer. He's stuck around too long with a much worse record than Bowden.

The problem is that he has never won an ACC championship, if had, he would still have a job.

He has done many fine things for Clemson but it was time to make a change. I respect him for doing the best thing for his athletes and his friends at the University.

If only politicians could understand this and step aside when they are not working for the good of their constituents.

60+% winning percentage is pretty darn good. Bowden is as good a coach as they will get. People are too quick to cut loose a good coach. I say get rid of some of the head cases that are not on "the bandwagon" as harper called it. Attitudes can make the most efficient coach unsuccessful.

Bowden's closest championship was a second place finish in the division, a far cry from actually winning. I remember the cry "finish the job" last year, but this year's team seems even more incapable of doing just that. The second half collapse against Maryland, failing to hold Wake on their final TD drive; these failures to "finish the job" mark a team identity that can only reflect the man at the top.

Goodbye and good riddance

Some new developments in this. Do a google search for Tommy Bowdens daughter. Seems she has taken some naughty spread eagle photo and it hit the internet a couple days ago.
Maybe he resigned out of embarrassment over the photo

Who gives a crap that Lauren Bowden is lying in bed showing the world her breast? Big deal. Many women do the same thing every single day and by the way, these photos were from a few years ago. I doubt very seriously this caused him to be fired.

From what I read, TB was not fired, HE QUIT!!

When was the last time Clemson played for the ACC Championship? Since TB was coach, did Clemson EVER appear in the ACC Championship game??

I do not know of another job where you could stay 10 years without achieving the basic job requirement, winning the ACC? This has been the most basic demand of the coach and he has not even come close. He has recruited well, but those recruits have not executed on the field. We have the most talented backfield in the NCAA, yet we are 1-3 against division one opponents. It was time for a change! The contract extension should NEVER have been offered last year, and NO WAY should TB be paid 3.5 for resigning.

I think the fact that Fulmer won an NC (most important) and is an alumnus (somewhat important) has somehow earned Phatty Phil permanent immunity. If I was a Vol fan, I would be pissed. But as a Gator fan, I say, keep him around as long as possible.
I honestly think that Tommy Bowden was a victim of media hype. Whenever they would jump on the bandwagon, the team would falter. Granted, part of Bowden's job is making sure that the team deals with expectations, but in the end, the fact that the team didn't live up to the hype cost Bowden his job.

Clemson needed the change, it should have come sooner. I know Bowden brought in some great players, but it looked like he failed to motivate any of them.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Capricorn

You're in an industrious mood but you'll be happiest if you can be left to your own devices as much as possible. It's not that you're feeling unfriendly, simply that you won't be able to concentrate very well if you're surrounded by lots of people. If you haven't even started writing your Christmas cards yet, try to remedy that at some point today.
