2 Hoosiers will challenge Purdue defense

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

If Indiana is going to beat Purdue in Saturday's Old Oaken Bucket game in Bloomington, chances are the Hoosiers will need to get big performances out of their two offensive stars, quarterback Kellen Lewis and ...

"2 Hoosiers will challenge Purdue defense"

It would be nice if we could get maybe 11 guys involved. Traditionally it makes for a better result.

What's it going to take to get some true excitement going for this Bucket Game?!? For the first time in year's this game actually means something. No, nobody's heading to a BCS berth, but there's plenty at stake. Something has got to change in this football rivalry. It's so disappointing to see the excitement in Louisville over UK and UofL (when neither has any football history)and ZERO enthusiasm for our state's "big game". We can complain about coaches all we want, but until the fans step up and create an atmosphere the top recruits will be hard to come by. Of course, I'll put a lot of the blame on IU. I went to the game two years ago in their glorified high school stadium and couldn't even find a program.

It's more than just those two ! How about a OL that will create holes for the running back and hold there blocks so KL can throw !!!! I agree that those two have to play big, but only if the OL shows up and plays well.

Should be a great game this year. I'm guessing IU pulls off the upset. Either way it goes, I can't lose (win). ;)

My advice to Purdue defenders would be to let these two guys run around with the ball til they fumble it!

Soory, but 2 players don't make a team. IU is still out-mnanned. The real key to this game is which Painter shows up. If "Good Curtis" shows up, Purdue wins big. If "Bad Curtis" shows up, Purdue most likely loses.A quarterback throwing poorly thrown balls resulting in interceptions can give a game away. Prediction, Tiller makes it 10 wins out of 11 games by winning again.

I'm expecting a close game. IU must not continue to fumble the football to have any chance.

I think it's the complete opposite. IF Lewis fumbles, IU will lose. IF Lewis protects the ball, IU will win.

And who on the Purdue D is going to stop James Hardy?

Look, we all know that it takes more than two people to win a game. Sheesh, relax people. Lewis and Hardy are by far our biggest weapons though. Last year Purdue could not stop Kellen Lewis on the ground. IU piled up 500+ yards of total offense, but they lost by 9 due to a couple of stupid fumbles inside the Purdue 10 yard line.
This year, Lewis is more efficient passing and Hardy is having a MONSTER YEAR. Lewis should be able to run on Purdue (like last year) and the 6'7 James Hardy should be unstoppable. That's all he meant by "2 hoosiers will challenge Purdue".

Charles Paul Wilson III (an Indianapolis native and former IUPUI student), is a finalist in an online contest called Comic Book Idol.
Like American Idol, the public's votes decide the winner. The prize package for this final round includes limited contracts with several publishers -- a nice way to boost his career.
The voting is held at a web site called Comic Book Resources -- kind of a catch-all of information for comic book fans and readers. The voting has started today and won't end until 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 14.
If you have a moment, would you mind checking out the contest and possibly voting for Charles?

Okay, two hoosiers challenge Purdue, that's fine. Let's see how well IU defense does trying to tackle Keller, catch up with Bryant, trying to cover Orton and Lymon, try to sack Painter, or get past the big uglies...heck, we didn't even talk about Sheets or Taylor, the running backs. IU's pass defense is one man, Porter, and he is questionable for the game....that would be a hugh blow to IU if he missed the game....and a sucky way to end his career. Even if he plays, he won't be 100percent.

We have also seen that Lewis has not fixed his fumbling problems. That lost IU games versus Northwestern and Penn State.

I just hope the Boilers plus Tiller can get fired up for this, unlike last week. He should hate to lose to IU as much as I do, as although he has great things for the program they will be calling for his head if they lose this one!

I sure hope the good Curtis Painter shows up and the team has a little fire, which was totally lacking last week. I would sure hope they could get fired up for IU but after loss to Penn State they looked like they mailed in the season last week as a result of the loss at Penn State. Show some pride and pound IU. Been calling for his head a couple of years now. Purdue's fottball program hasn't progressed in the past few years and we seen it in the Old Oaken Bucket scores. Remember those days of the 40 point plus wins, we need to get back to them but than involves bringing a younger caoch with some enthusiasm. Go Boilers!

If Purdue loses, IU goes to a Bowl game and Purdue doesn't. Tiller is gone of that happens! So if IU does happen to pull out an upset, Purdue does actually win in the long run.

Does anybody know what ended up happening to Alex Smith from IU. It's been years ago, but somebody asked me and I didn't know the answer. If I remember right, he went to the draft early and didn't get drafted.
