Dick Butkus is the greatest defensive player to ever play the game of football. When you played across from him on Sunday you knew two things were going to happen. You shat your pants and somebody was leaving with broken bones... and it wasn't going to be Dick. God I loved watching him play!

I grew up in the years of Butkus playing at CVS, man was he a monster on both sides of the ball. Attending Walter Scott my friends and I use to go see CVS play and whew Mr. Butkus, was mr. football in Chicago. He is by far the greatest Chicago football player ever.

Back when a college all-star team played the NFL champions, I saw and heard Butkus put a wallop on Jim Brown near the sideline at Soldier Field. The sound was explosive and Brown, who always got up slowly, stayed down just a little bit longer. What a hit, what a ferocious player. Anybody else remember that game?
