I copied this from a news clip.
Louisiana State informed sports media outlets today that quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has been dismissed from the defending national champions' football team.
"Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team," a statement from coach Les Miles said. "In the end, he didn’t fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete. We hope that a new beginning will benefit him."
Miles added, "I wish Ryan and his family nothing but the best in any of his future endeavors." (Photo by Chris Graythen, Getty Images)
The school said Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester at LSU. Miles said he would have no other comment on the matter.
Perrilloux also had been dismissed from the team in February, for an unspecified violation of team rules, but was allowed back.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune, citing university sources, reported then that Perrilloux missed classes, workouts and at least one team meeting.
Perrilloux was LSU's heir apparent at quarterback. As a junior last season, he stepped in for an injured Matt Flynn to lead the Tigers to a victory over Tennessee in the SEC championship, and was named the game's MVP. Perrilloux also played in the Tigers' victory over Ohio State in the BCS national championship game.
Perrilloux also was suspended two other times at LSU. He missed a game at Alabama after an allegation that he was involved in a fight at a nightclub, where no police charges were filed. Last May, he also allegedly tried to use his brother's drivers license to enter a casino gambling goat. He was underage, and drew another suspension.
Also, in January 2007, Perrilloux was sought for questioning by federal and local officials investigating an alleged counterfeiting ring. He was not charged.
His senior season at East St. John (La.) High, Perrilloux was selected as USA TODAY's prep Offensive Player of the Year. On the day he signed with LSU, he immediately stirred a controversy by proclaiming he would play because, "JaMarcus Russell struggled last year, and Matt Flynn is definitely not a better quarterback than me."
His dismissal leaves LSU in a seemingly precarious situation at quarterback. The starting spot now figures to fall to Andrew Hatch, a walk-on transfer from Harvard, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee, or incoming freshman Jordan Jefferson.
