Full story: The Indianapolis Star

Jamarcus Ellis contributed in many offensive categories Wednesday night against Iowa, and for 38 minutes the Indiana junior did a nice job shutting down Hawkeyes leading scorer Justin Johnson.

Way to much one on oen playing. Iowa played team ball moving to ball from player to player. They had several layups and slams. If we played that game at Mich St they kill us by 20. Thanks to Ellis, I hope his back isn't hurting from that large saddle he strapped on his back.

IU is at least 15 pts. better than Iowa but they didn't play like it..Too many poor decisions and too much one on one street ball..

If anyone knows our history against Iowa in the past 5+ years then they know that this was a big win. Iowa has owned us at home and especially at Carver. Its always tough on us when we go up there. Couple how disfunct Iowa is right now with the fact that we havent played a competetive team in a month and the kids were sure to take this one lightly. I wasnt at all suprised. IU's depth won it for them in the end. Iowa's players just had no legs left until Johnson hit that first 3 at 1:55 left. IU could have and would have won that by 15+ if Johnson isnt hitting 40ft bankshots. Come on Hoosier fans. A road win in the Big Ten is good win. I dont care who it is. You will see some good teams lose on the road in the Big Ten this year. Happens every year. I am glad IU is not one of them yet.

IU Dad - no one expects the Hoosiers to go up and take that game at Mich. St. We are only looking for a split with them. That is the only road game where we should be decided underdogs.

Dream on Old Roy. Purdue will win on Saturday at home against Michigan. But will lose on 1-8 at MSU.

Since IU blew out Iowa a basketball powerhouse there is no question IU will win the NCAA championship. Also E Gordon will be the first pick in the NBA draft, D J White will be second, And Ellis may be third!!!!

Over the years I've noted, particularly in B10 games, that some opposition player has a career game against IU, just like Johnson did for Iowa. IU should expect that each game - call it motivation, heart, strong will, or whatever. The best way for IU, or any team, to counter and overcome a player's career game is with a large lead, hitting every foul shot, no cheap fouls, and motivation, heart and will of your own in the final minutes of a game.

Go IU!!!

Ellis really saved the Hoosiers and kept them right in the game for a good long stretch the other night. He gets tough rebounds and manages to get the ball in the basket when i dont even know how he did it.

What I have not seem from this team in the past 10 games is the passing game and the fast break game. Seems more like alley ball than team basketball. "I got the rebound and I'm shooting" mentality. This team has the potentiality to be great if they play defense and play the passing game and use the fast break to their advantage. To much one on one at this point and this past game shows what can happen if you don't play your game.

The problem that I seen in this games is that IU has a good inside outside game but everyone wants to go one on one. We need to get back to the team concept and buckle down on defence in the paint area.
Hopefully, this will be a learning experience for them and they understand that it's Big Ten time.

Ellis said he has seen guys get hot like that on TV. I've been watching basketball since before Jamarcus' dad was born and I had never seen shooting like the last two minutes. Relieved Johnson didn't get one more chance. Whew.

It's amazing that there has only been one IU player in history to get a 'triple double'. The incomparable Oscar Robertson once AVERAGED a triple double for the year. Jamarcus has been a great addition to this Hoosier team. With his continual stellar all-around play it is reasonable to think he will join Steve Downing as a triple double man. Perhaps even a 'quad double'?

I think Ellis did a real good job and as some pevious posters have said, this is a tough game at Hawkeye Arena regardless of who has whom. That is what keeps basketball a fun game. No one likes to lose, but losing is part of the game. You did good, Hoosiers, and we know you will have a good Big Ten Season.

What are you smoking?
No way on earth I.U. will win the NCAA Championship with the left-over remnants of Mike Davis's squad.

As for the much heralded Eric Gordon, I wish he would have honored his original verbal committment to Illinois. I think it is SAD when players like him use the "college-stage" as a springboard to the dull N.B.A. after just one year.

Further, I expect the NCAA to heavily saction I.U.'s program as a result of the "3-way" call fiasco.

Finally, give Coach Lich @ Iowa some time and he will indeed restore the basketball program to national prominence.

Have A Great Day!!!

I think he is the 3rd best player behind two future first round picks in EJ and DJ.(Yes I think DJ will go late in the 1st Rd)

Next year he and Ebanks together will be something to watch. Both 6-6/6-7 with 6'10" wingspans. He will average more toward 20 pts next year and will have a very good shot at getting drafted. We dont have any bigs next year, so that will require us to focus on the guards.

He can rebound almost at DJ's level and you just get the feeling watching him that he knows what we need when we need it. If people are standing around chucking up threes he will get into the lane and to the line. He is solid defensively and he has a very good basketball IQ. I can see why he was the JUCO POY.

I think the guy was joking to begin with.

-You wish he would have honored his committment to UI? You think IU's basketball team will "be heavily sanctioned"?

I dont. And I dont think we will or we would have heard about it already. They wouldnt have waited for the Big Ten to start to tell us we are getting a ban, so dont rest your hopes on a failed IU season on that BS. Aint gonna happen.

You transparent haters are funny though.

Since I don't have the resources to watch Big Ten games this year I caught a glimpse of the Iowa wonderkid Johnson on YouTube. The only thing I can conclude, not having seen him perform before, is that he must have been unconscious by the time he banked in the last trey. And Ellis was in his face. That was some performance.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Scorpio

Self-worship is easy and obvious, today. The real prize is when you turn from the mirror to see that others think just as highly of you. Take in all this love and amazement, and store some away for lean times in the future. Someone may give you an unexpected compliment later in the day, but don't let them know that it caught you off guard. After all, you still have your reputation as an egomaniac to uphold!
