Full story: Columbus Dispatch

For most of the past decade, Luke Fickell was not unlike most other young assistant coaches in college football: He aspired to someday be a head coach.

It is a good thing that Fickell was not in a position to notice Pryor driving a new car every other couple months or to know about Tressel sweeping Tat-gate under the rug to try and go for a title.

Of course, you agree with everything that your boss does at work. And if not you are the first to go over his/her head and complain vociferously. When does your unemployment run out?

What a task at hand. I hope all the Buckeyes will support him, not just the current players but the support of all the past Buckeyes. Luke will need all their help. Here is a chance to give back even more! Go bucks!

It would be beyond idiotic to give the HC position to Fickell, a no name asst coach on this staff. It would be a smack in the face by OSU to the NCAA as well. This admin needs to sweep the broom on this entire complicit staff in this mess. Start over with a new HC who will bring in their own staff so OSU can say they are truly breaking away from the Tressel era.

Fickell is coaching for himself to get another Asst gig somewhere else, as is the rest of this 'lame duck' staff. Good luck to him and the others, but please don't think for a minute that he'll get the HC position permanently.

If you see your boss breaking rules, it is your responsiblity to go to the people that over sees your boss and tell them of the bad things that are going on. If not, you are just as cullible as the manager. Donn. worry there will be a complete house cleaning during your DEATH PENALTY!!! OSU trustee knows it is coming that is why they kept Tressel's staff. They will fire them after the DEATH PENALTY gets inforced. Then start out new!

If Coach Fickell can win 8 games this season, the job should be his for good. Considering the number of suspensions, the schedule and scrutiny, if he can lead the team to atleast a winning season and respectable bowl game in the face of all of this adversity, he deserves the head job.

Gary, sometimes I want to go to your boss and let him know that he has an employee that is illiterate. What is his name?

You got it Bucknut! I think Luke will be a excellent coach and will lead the Buckeye back to their rightful place. Tough circumstances to be sure, but I thought he would be a head coach somewhere really soon, may as well be for the Bucks.

Sitting down here in Florida, I have to read this combined character assasination
of fine man and football coach, whose greatest fault was trying to protect his players-and to those who say that was just to kepp winning-how about how he;s helped Clarett and others who have dropped out of the program? The man;s an educator and a leader. The stories that are now being manufactured by a bunch of media pansies and schlemiels like the S.I scumbags. are mainly based on the supposed infrmation supplied by miscreants and malcontents like Ray Small who was disciplined by Tressel for NOT meeting team player standards of conduct-and ex-or current convicts who worked at tattoo parlors.
Would any of the BS stand up in a court of law? I doubt it and Sports Illustrated
should be ashamed of this yellow (as in cowardly) journalism where these sleazes are trying to make the news even to the point of fabricating it with the lies of people with little or no credibility. S.I. should be banned form news stands and circulation in the state of Ohio-I'll never read this scum again! And where are these cowards researching the many and prevelant real recruting and pay of play violations like the Cam Newton scam?
Our so-called sports media is worthy of Joseph Goerbelswho said, ineffect, if you repeat a lie often enough, it will be become a fqct in the mind of the public.

Wow, you are still in denial. This situtation is not SI's fault. All they do is report the news. We got caught cheating in a serious and sustained way. SI is just reporting it.

You will see when the NCAA investigation is over. The NCAA will no doubt find evidence of ongoing major rules violations. USC's punishment will look tame in comparison.

You need to deal with reality, as sad as it is.

Considering you are on probation for extending practices beyond what the NCAA allowed, I wouldn't be too loose with the term 'cheaters'.

Sorry, but Luke Fickell should NOT be hired as the head coach. I have a hard time believing, with everything that has been going on, that Coach Fickell did NOT know anything. Time to clean house.

Luke is a good man, a good coach. He was a terrific player for the Buckeyes. As he takes over the head coaching position, he deserves the support of Buckeye Nation. So let's stop the bickering Buckeye fans and get behind our new head football coach: Luke Fickell. Good luck Luke and Go Bucks!!!!

ESPN analyst Chris Spielman, an All-America linebacker for the Buckeyes, indicated the scrutiny is going to be intense, especially with the suspensions.....

He got that right....especially with Spielman and others getting paid big $$ to second guess everything anyone at OSU does each day.

I hope Luke isn't his friend because we see what Chris has done to those.

Best of luck to Luke Fickell! He too is a good man.

They can't clean house at this point in the year. No good coach will come in with NCAA sanctions looming and having a short period of time before summer practices start.

Get rid of Bollman as the Offensive Coordinator. If Fickell doesn't get rid of Bollman, he has no chance at becoming Head Coach. We need some fresh blood to come in and innovate our offense.

Hire Oregon's OC or one of their assistants who knows that offense. The defect in Tressel was his play calling and conservative offense. Bollman can't even coach the offensive line and his recruits don't even get drafted in the NFL. Lets face it, Bollman only remained because Tressel was too loyal to get rid of him.
