Holiday's NBA test run puts UCLA in limbo

I say let Jrue go. He will just be a distraction to the team next year. Showchasing himself and not a team player.

No doubt Jrue is NBA quality. His experience and record in no way resembles RUSSELL WESTBROOK. His situation more closely follows TREVOR ARIZA. ARIZA was drafted relatively late becoming a talented career tenuous afterthought. It took years to become recognized as an NBA starting type player. In his early years, he was on the cusp of being released and dropped from NBA.

One more year at UCLA and Jrue will demonstrate his great talents and enjoy a more welcomed, financially appreciated and protected entry to the NBA.

As a college basketball fan, I detest "one and done" As a UCLA fan, I appreciate any team contributions by immensely talented athletes. As a father, I am upset by placing financial/professional goals ahead of academic opportunity. The NBA money opportunity demands forsaking immediate academic goals.

I've watched Jrue for over 5 years and one thing you should know about him, he is not a selfish player who will focus on showcasing himself. He is truely a very homble kids. I've never seen him take over a game to showcase his skills, he always will get his team involved.

He will not be a distraction no more than Kevin Love or Westbrook. UCLA really needs Jrue in order to have a serious chance next year.

Blah,blah,blah. We've heard this all before. I don't begrudge Jrue the opportunity to enter the NBA but if a prospect comes on the radar I'd give him the scholarship. Most UCLA players who left early have succeeded, but not all. I wish we could find more Collisons, Shipps or Hansbroughs, players who value the educational opportunities, the team experience, and loyalty. Pulling his scholarship if it appears advantageous will just force him into the NBA regardless of his lottery standing. The poor young man will just have to settle for a few million less if he goes later than 15th.

I hope he stays for at least one more year. His ball handling skills among other things still need to be improved. I do however wish him the best if he can get a guaranteed lottery pick but if not... please stay and play one more year at UCLA!!!

The lottery is the first 14 picks. Daily news messes up again.

I think he should've stayed at UCLA one more year to play his natural position. This year he had to back up play alongside with Collison. Next year he can be more free to show what he's got.

He'll be the first player from Chatsworth to go to the NBA. He went to Campell Hall in Valley Village which is a private school. The Collins brothers are like me, they're from Northridge. I live in the Porter Ranch area and went to the same orthodontist that Jason and Jarron went to. There's a picture of them with one of the nurses. Even though it would be cool to see Jrue play pro next year. I think he is best off waiting another year.

This is what is bad about the NBA,you get a guy who is 3 years away from being just a decent NBA player.Holiday did not even help UCLA much this year so what makes him a top pick in the draft?The basketball players say well other sports let people play at a young age,well in tennis if your not good enough you get stuck in the futures,in baseball they have many levels of minors and most other sports are like that.In basketball you get a guy like Hioliday who is not ready and he either sits or brings the level of play down with him playing so bad.Wow kid what is wrong with 2 years of college at least.

As a coach I would never sign someone who won't commit staying at least three years in school!

I say good riddance. I'm sick of seeing college players coming and going like a revolving door. It's why I've lost interest in college basketball.

I don't see the NBA level with Jrue...maybe I need glasses or something but even at off guard Jrue had a ton of turn overs and I never saw the skill set anywhere close to what Westbrook demonstrated last year. Point guard skills would seem to require better ball handling than this kid has at this time. People need to stop blowing smoke into these kids heads!!!

Love's wasn't a distraction, but his DAD sure was. The only upside to losing Love to getting rid of his complaining, whining father. Maybe he has a cousin that could give him sometihng to help mellow out.

Jrue doesnt seem to be NBA caliber material to me. In the games I saw him, he looked like a similar player that Collison was, only Collison had better decision-making, a quicker move to the basket, a better jump-shot and better defense. But maybe I didn't see him play enough.

Maybe if Jrue develops a jump shot, he has a shot. But is it just me, or does it seem like there's a lot of pre-mature players coming out this season?
I think some of these kids should also be counseled on the importance of choosing the RIGHT TIME to enter the draft- and should know of players like Devon Jefferson and others who haven't panned out after leaving early. They need to know these things before giving up their college experiences.

Jrue's brother outplayed him, why didn't he turn pro after a year?

Jrue didn't take over games he was in. Good luck to him though; he can be a four-year NBA project like Bynum

Lets change the rules so that the kids have to be out of High School 2 years before being drafted. This is getting ridiculous. Westbrook played great at UCLA before he declared, Holiday has not!

He was much better until Howland got hold of him. Collison draft stock has fallen, and Farmar shot worse and had more turnovers his second season at UCLA.

Jrue reminds me of Jaron Rush and definately not Russel Westbrook. He'll be playing B leage in Europe in a couple of years because of greedy parents....
