Cavs cold against Heat

On a night when ol' Shaq diesel was out of gas after the 1st quarter, it was sad that the only Cavalier interested in attacking the paint was Moondog! Everyone else settled for sloppy short-armed jumpers...again!
Down by seven at halftime, I loved watching more country club "homie-hugs" between Cavalier and Heat players. Only our designated Hanson brother, Scott Pollard who whacked Mourning with a hard foul seemed to understand how games like this should be played. 14 total team assists is also embarrassing. Hughes has the skill to play the point, he just doesn't have the brains. We should go back to Gibson. At least the kid is intelligent and plays hard. I also know its tough being a member of the King's court. Say the wrong thing and suddenly you're a Memphis Grizzly. But someone has to let LeBron know that the rainbow bomb from Summit County is not his best shot. His two playoff game winners last year were in the paint. He beat Chicago this weekend in the paint. He's a 51% shooter inside the arc and a 32% shooter outside the arc. He's a great player, but he's got to make better decisions. We're not toast...yet. The East is so bad, anything can still happen, but it looks like we're determined to do things the hard way. |

It is one of two things:
Either Coach Brown can't put in a good play to execute after a timeout OR the players are not executing a play that Coach Brown has put in. To see the difference, watch the Akron Zips after a timeout. Clearly, Coach Dambrot has a play in mind AND the players execute that play. A play involves set-up and execution. Usually a couple of good passes ... NOT one guy dribbling away the time, no matter how good that one guy is! |

|
This team is so inconsistent.....really, dropping to the 5 doesn't even matter. If in the playoffs they play the way the did during the 8-game winning streak, they could beat anyone in the East in a 7-game series. But if they play the way they have over the past several games, any team in the East could beat them. My guess is that they aren't going anywhere though.....for some reason they've managed to regress from last season.....sad.

If.... I.......... could.......... only.......... take......... one.......... step........ to........ the basket..........
Lebron is my boy and has taken the Cavs to a whole new level. I've lived through the Fratello, T Brandon years. I've suffered through the Wittman, J Lucas, A Miller, C Henderson, B Knight, L Murray, W Person years. But come on Lebron! This is the second time I've seen him dribble the clock down in one spot against lesser defenders to end the game. If.... I.......... could.......... only.......... take......... one.......... step........ to........ the basket.......... |

Brown is gone next year. Period. They can't bring a coach back who can only coach one end of the floor. The Cav's "offense" doesn't exist. And this guy had the audacity, in his second season as a head coach, to refuse help in his weakest discipline: offense. The great Phil Jackson (Hall of Famer) never had a problem giving Tex Winter credit for the triangle, but this guy, in his infinite wisdom, down't need help. Bye, Mike. When the Cavs underachieve in the playoffs just like they have in the regular season, you'll be back as an assistant somewhere. It's been real.

Brown also had the audacity to refuse Mark Price's offer of help with free throws. Unbelievable. One of the greatest free throw shooters of ALL TIME (I think he's second to Calvin Murphy) offers to help the Cavs -- who are embarassingly bad at free throw shooting -- and the coach TURNS HIM DOWN. Brown should have been fired right then and there.

Oooo. The great Phil Jackson. Smoke a couple of bowls, sit back with your mouth hanging open and let the real Hall of Famers do whatever they want. Coaching Jordan, Shaq and Kobe wasn't rocket science. Like that other "great" coach Pat Riley, he never built anything. He just picked his spots and stroked his stars. Red Auerbach made the same observation. Get LeBron some HELP on the floor. |

Six rings don't lie, and that's not the point. The point is Mike Brown sucks. It's a LOT easier to get rid of a coach than players in the NBA.

I had the same idea while watching some Cavs games lately. Why does the ball automatically go to Lebron at the end of the game? Don't you think the other teams are going to figure that out? Mike Brown needs to make a change in this situation. Lebron wants the ball but the coach has to be in charge and change things up once in awhile like giving the ball to Lebron on a second pass.

I'm originally from Ohio but now live in Va Beach and am a big Cavs fan. About the Cavs: they simply have wasted money on Larry Hughes (can't shoot or make foul shots) and disappears; Ilgauskas cannot run or jump and has never made a clutch shot; and Donyell Marshall is useless. The team rarely plays with any fire and don't act like they are playing to be contenders much less champions. I'm also not impressed with Mike Brown. I don't think he is respected by the team. In short, wait til next year.

Brown is a good young coach from a defensive standpoint, but it's clearly time to at least hire an offensive minded assistant coach for the future.
If the CAVS wait until he gets it LeBron will be long gone. |

It has been seen manhy times this year. With the game on the line LeBron gets the ball 30 feet out and the rest of the team just watches from the sides of the court. Why doesn't somebody break to the basket. With LeBron double teamed, he would be wide open. Too many losses at this point that should have been easy wins.
|
|||
|
This season is too late for a coaching change, but the CAVS can at least watch what other coaches do after their timeouts. Scott Skiles always puts in a play where they at least get a decent shot versus LeBron pounding the ball until the double team comes before he throws up a 3 from Lakewood. Watch the tube, it's not rocket science.

What I've always thought is ridiculous is how as soon as a timeout is called, Brown has a side meeting with his assistant coaches while the players all stand together by the bench. Half the timeout is wasted with this.
Shouldn't he be consulting with his assistants BEFORE the timeout? After all, they sit right next to him. He should be using his timeouts to communicate to his players and actually draw up a play that works -- if he's able to, which he isn't. |

Lebron has said ll season that playoff seeding doesn't matter as long as they get in, it looks like we're gonna find out how much it matters! Thanks for the night in night out effort guys! I'm glad I didn't waste my hard earned money on any tickets this year, because like the Lebron says, these games don't matter.

Bron Bron is capapble of being the NBA's ultimate finisher. But to achieve that, the Cadavers need to find at least half a point guard & find a coach who realizes the need to run well executed plays at crunch time.

Seemingly, we are expecting a 22 year old phenom to re-invent the wheel each time he touches the basketball. He's still one of the most incredible talents in the game, but he's still learning the intangibles. Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett took time to develop that killer instinct*well, except for Kobe. You probably could hear old conversations about him giving bloody noses in 3rd grade dogeball at recess*. The Cavs as a whole have no true offensive identity, can't stop serious dribble penetration, and don't have a consistent second option to help Mr. James.
