Sterling isi just plain cheap. Some two decades ago when I moved to L A I rented an apt. in Beverly Hills in a nice area, but an older building, a little cheaper than others, well-maintained but not "luxurious."

However soon after I moved in Sterling bought the building and ordered the manager to unscrew EVERY single lightbulb in the hallways and replace them with very low-watt 25 or 15-watt bulbs which made the building instantly look dingy and feel creepy. He also ordered other changes, but didn't spend any money to fix it. When there was a bathroom plumbing problem, the manager was rude and bossy. They started wanting to come in and inspect apts. for any reason, made all kinds of arbitrary and micro-managing demands. We had to take our plants off the balconies so it would "look nice" but it looked awful and lost the last aspects of hominess.

I couldn't wait to move, and was able to buy a home then so I guess I should be glad he bought the place and turned it into a prison making me want to move
