I guess Zine is the only Council member who does not on receive campaign contributions from the Anschutz Entertainment Group. Good for him.

......and Dennis Zine is the only council member who has the backbone to tell AEG to pay for this pedophilia festival, especially when only about 1,000 MJ fanatics attended, outside Staples Center when everybody else had to go to work on that day. I wish we have 10 more Dennis Zines on the City Council. The others - Ed Reyes, Jose Huizar, Bill Rosendahl, Jan Perry (the acting mayor of LA and a great embarrasment),... were simply bought off by AEG and don't care about us, taxpayers, and what we're going through day-to-day, with an 11.5% unemployment hanging over our heads.

You know, everybody should call AEG and force them to pay for this festival. It's a total outrage if the taxpayers are gonna have to be stuck with this bill.

Zine is a tacky buffoon and embarrassment. AEG paid a big chunk of the Lakers parade when the Mayor asked, even though they have no responsibility for that, and they're good corporate citizens, so Zine attacking them publicly all over the media for his own personal P R is ignorant as well as vulgar.

However I agree that with our budget crisis they should pay for a good chunk of costs because the Jackson Memorial was really a SHOW, not just a funeral or observance. AEG AND the Jackson family will profit hugely. And so did media, which got higher ratings, and could afford to pay AEG, so why not the city for their share of protection etc.? For Zine to insult and impugn the integrity of AEG is especially dumb for a Republican when ALL city officials should be business-friendly.

The City should have considered these costs upfront, as well as the benefits some claim in hotel and meal taxes and the image of the city to the world. With LAPD doing such a great job it was all peaceful and upbeat, so the money preventing crowds and problems/ lawsuits was very well-spent. They prepared for the worst and prevented it so Trutanich blowharding that "it cost $10,000 per person for those who were there without tickets and I'm going to get to the bottom of it" is chest-thumping ignorance at its worst.

Since Jan Perry was Acting Mayor WITH ZINE SECOND IN COMMAND AFTER HER AS 2ND COUNCIL PRO TEM, and Zine AND Trutanich were kept abreast of every detail by LAPD, Zine was just as responsible as Perry. He and Trutanich bellowing about the costs after the fact, determining "to get to the bottom of it" and barging into Council to say that AFTER Controller Wendy Greuel already wrote letters demanding the same thing, is typical of the UTTER LACK OF CLASS and consideration for others Zine always shows and sadly, so did Trutanich.

AEG got either 15 or 17 million in insurance money for not being able to present the Jackson events. At least AEG could have done was to pay the 50K tab and buy the cops lunch.

I wonder if AEG is going to make this an annual Pedi-fest? They are making a ton of money off this so look for this to be an annual homage to the Prince of Pedophiles. I'm done going to Staples Center for anything.

Dennis Zine is a disgrace to Los Angeles. No wonder the NFL and other business don't want to come here because he makes ridiculous comments. He and others on the council before him did not want the Staples Center built.
