we knew this 2 weeks ago... Darian will obviously be Danica's crew cheif or he will be in the garage at shr or he will go back to hms.. Addington + Stewart is going to be an EXCELLENT combination!!!

Debi, I wish I had your confidence in Tony. Considering the Chase events and results, I think he's made a big mistake. Just what does he want in a crew chief anyway?

Addington can't top Darian's accomplishments, and I don't know what he was thinking agreeing to sign on with Tony.

This decision is going to cost Tony a lot of respect.

I don't think Tony letting Darian go is any worse than Jimmie J winning a championship with Jeffs pit crew.
Or Richard Petty taking Kyle out of his car! Or Gibbs letting Bobby L go after winning a championship and keep a knuckle head rookie hot head stewart. Or Cryle b letting Addington go after a season of winning 8 races. Or Teresa not sellingvested interest in ERI to JR or giving him the #8.

How I interpret what you're saying is that Tony is no different from any other monster mogul.

Respect, loyalty, and exemplary service mean nothing.

I wanted to think Tony was different, better than that. I have to agree with you that he apparently is not.

last night on race hub, Larry Mac said that Darian is an engineer who probably wants to go back to doing engineering.. so,, I believe HMS will NOT let that guy out and he will either go back to HMS or he will stay at SHR in the garage...they said he has many offers.. but like I said before,, Matt Borland, competition director at SHR, the day Tony won the championship, was surprised to hear that anyone thought Darian would be leaving SHR...
and also,, the pit strategy bit of Tony winning the chase,, that was more than likely Matt Borland who introduced short pitting when he was Ryan Newmans crew cheif,.. I used to think it was cheating how he got Ryan to the lead and to win due to pit strategy and Borland was the first to do that... and Biffle said that Borland deserves a ton of credit for that championship.

I am 100% certain that Darian, father to that little boy and husband to that wife wants to be HOME to watch the races.. working 40 hour weeks... why does anybody think the crew cheif is the top dog in a NASCAR garage?? why wouldn't people think Darian is getting a PROMOTION????

Debi, it's not being portrayed that way in the media. When words like "fired" "released" "replaced" are used it doesn't sound good. If Darian wanted to resign his position, in lieu of any other position in or out of SHR, it sure isn't being reported that way.

Other than Tony sticking by a decision he made in Oct, I haven't heard one other reason for Darian's termination from SHR.

The last I read Darian was fielding offers from almost every other owner in Nascar. IMO, everything about this makes Tony look bad. The news about Darian hit the media before they celebrated the championship, they haven't even held the banquet yet and Tony has already named a replacement. Very tacky way of doing business IMO.

Yes Teresa and Chip are cleaning house. They failed to win a race this year. I saw 3 of the top dogs are on the way out. Wonder if that will really make that much of an improvement.I guess her number 8 is still parked..lol lol

well, as usual now I am going to wait and listen to hear if Darian will be Danica's part time crew cheif, or if he will be back in the shop in Charlotte, or if he went back to HMS,, or if he goes to another team.. I do not feel bad at all because this IS about Tony's team and he has every right to employ whomever can make him the best driver he can be.. In the early part of this past season, Tony was racing his heart out to come up empty handed on at least 6 shoulda wins... Darian was not firm on pit calls early and that honestly is what cost them... after Tony decided to not have Darian be his crew cheif next year, for whatever reason,, The Team won and won and won... I do not believe that Darian and Tony have bad blood between them but who knows? maybe they HATE each other and Darian could not WAIT TO GET OFF THAT PITBOX??? I mean, Tony giving him the grandfather clock was certainly not a thing done for a guy that you do not appreciate..
Tony is a racer,,,he is a shrewd businessman.. I trust that perhaps for ONCE he will not be left without a dancing partner at the end of the Daytona 500 for the first time EVER this year to get that deserved WIN for a change...
I am not letting know nothing media idiots who blow everything out of proportion and make some look good and others look bad on a daily basis tell me anything that is not a press release from Tony himself... Matt Borland said they are doing a lot of moving people around within SHR.,. if Darian does not fit in,, perhaps it is his choice.. I seriously think we as fans over appreciate the guy on the pit box.. there are a ton of very important engineers behind those guys who make the cars and make decisions before race day... TONY was the guy who drove that car at Homestead, Tony was the guy who made sure they did not run out of gas.. Tony is the most talented race car driver of our time,.. Darian was lucky to have been given the opportunity to be his crew cheif. HE GOT A CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! cuz HIS driver could drive from 40th to win that last race

Crew Chief Kenny Frances is heading to HMS with Kasey. Mr Hendrick told Darian he would always have his old position with HMS which is an engineer. Darian went to SHR because Mr Hendrick asked him to. He doesn't want to be a full time crew chief.
