All this talk about food .. just wondering if anyone makes special Christmas food or desserts..

I know this is way of Tony Stewart.. and racing.. sorry I hope this does't offend anyone..

I am always on the lookout for new recipes..

You know this is not very Christmas.. but I could not get away w/o making

Shortbread.. Cookie Monster Cookies..
Or course we do the traditional cut outs.. but my kiddos and most of their friends are art students.. so they spent hours decorating them..

we also make cookie treats for the dogs..

Gonna try Neverland's Spomoni cake..

So what's your speciality

Hubby is laying on the couch watching TV.. son is working.. and dd and BF are still up in her room..
Mom and I are baking cookies.. so it's a nice day in the neighborhood..

Admittedly I havent had a lot of scones, but stollen usually has a lot of that candied fruit, ya know that nasty stuff ya find in fruitcakes? And its very dense. I'm not a big fan of it really, but its a CHristmas morning tradition that goes waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the German half of my family!

Yeah, now it does ring a bell, they are very much the same but i think it depends on what you put in them, always hated the fruit cake, lol the candied fruit always make me go ick! But you have to follow tradition! That's what it all about!:)

Persimmon cookies - more of a fall thing than specifically Christmas, just because that's when they're in season, but gotta have some for Christmas Eve. My grandparents had a tree - now I have to buy them at the store, but can't do without them!!!

They make those beautiful quilts! They have a store in Carmel that sells their work, the good thing is part of the money goes to a fund for the SPCA around here.My mom and i used to make Homemade herb bread from scratch,it was so simple and delicious. The Amish have good values and it's great they live off the land. When i was in High School we kinda lived off the land as well, huge garden with everything, too much that we had to bring our goods to the fairgrounds at the farmers market, and we did alot of canning. My mom made the best bread and butter pickles, and pickled watermelon rind(sounds funny, but they are so good)My mom still makes apple sauce and gives in to people at her church. She stills grows her own lettuce, lord knows you sure can't trust the stores around here, still having problems with the E-Coli scare, something the Amish don't worry about im sure, all safe im sure in their fields..:)

For Christmas morning, I always make french toast using a Panettone. It's bad, bad, bad, but so good, good, good. I've spent the day making Christmas Cranberry Coffee Cakes that I put a sinful white icing on. So tasty.

My absolute favorite Christmas cookie is pecan crescent. Many moons ago, I worked in an office in DC and a wife of a colleague would make 300 or 400 of then (they're bite size) for us. The problem was that you dust the cookies with powdered sugar and the whole staff would walk around the office with white powder down their shirt or jacket. You couldn't sneak one because it was too easy to get busted!

My MIL makes this for Christmas, it is a dessert.

GLORIFIED RICE

1 can crushed pineapple drained
pineapple juice

Drain the can of crushed pineapple. Add juice to water to make the amount needed to cook the rice. Bring liquid to boil. Add instant rice and cook 5 minutes or per the directions. Drain if necessary. Add crushed pineapple and chill 1 hour. Whip 1 cup whipping cream or Cool Whip and sugar. When thickened, add 1 cup miniature marshmallows. Keep chilled.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
