why numbers? just look at the companion photo to the story, your visual attention is initially drawn to the largest, easiest to decipher graphic on the vehicle. also consider other sport activites where jerseys are numbered. sponsors come and go, merge, or in the case of pan-am fly away..numbers are immutable.

I agree. Numbers are important as Richard Petty said everytime I see 43 I think of him and when the the car does'nt do well I feel like he's been dishonored. Sounds silly but I can not help myself.

what do you think the chances are that T.E. lets dale, jr. have the 8? if she did this maybe his fans wouldn't dislike her as much. it would show that she has a heart.

i thought fred lorenzen was one of the greatest drivers of all time.thats why the number 28 will always stick in my mind.it will always mean lorenzen

just free the 8

Rex, great post and when I see 28 I think about Davey Allison, and how he came into the sport and was such a great driver. Always and forever a connection.

irishgal, I heard that Rick Hendrick, is doing everything he can to get the # 8. We will see in a few weeks, if she will give it over to them, for trade I guess.
I am now hearing, that Dale wants to drive the car # 8, but if things do not work out it will be the #81, so we just have to cross our fingers.. Teresa, cares less on who likes her. We should see that through all she has done with Dale's own namesake.

You got that right, that white with the blue number 28. Fred was the first driver in those days to reach the 100,000 dollar mark, in a single season. However when he gave it up.. Davey Allison, made it a name again, out of all the drivers who drove it.. To me anyway.

If he can't get 8 then he will drive 81, so we'll just have to see.. On the other hand you wrote something up there, about Jr. racing a real race at Indy? Well he is a NASCAR diver, and unless NASCAR tells the drivers to go opened wheel, they will remain in the COT. If you had not have posted that, this would have been funny..

OK here is one that was started on another thread. So what is with the redneck tattoos now? True Jr Fan>> wants you to know he does race at Indy with 43 other drivers.

As everyone knows the numbers belong to NASCAR. A team can not sell or trade a number. If a team does not want a number any longer it is returned to NASCAR. Another team wanting that number must ask NASCAR for it. As long you pay for the number it is yours whether you use it or not, ie. the number 3 and Richard Childress. If Teresa releases the number 8 back to NASCAR, Hendrick can request it and put on a Hendrick car. All Hendrick can do is pay Teresa to release the number to NASCAR.

Dale Earnfart Jr, is too scared to race the Indy 500.

NASCAR = Non Athletic "Sport" Centered Around Rednecks.

Why should Theresa care what JR's fans think of her? JR put himself in this position when he wanted to be greedy and take over the company. I think it's about time poor lil rich boy was denied something.
