Jeremy Mayfield testing in Ganassi's No. 41 Dodge

Full story: The Macon Telegraph

Jeremy Mayfield is driving the No. 41 Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates at the test here, but team president Steve Lauletta said that does not mean Reed Sorenson won't finish the season in that ...

Ganassi is a smart guy. Good Luck Jeremy. Take advantage of this opportunity. You may finally be with a team that can provide you with the equipment and team mates that will produce a competitive hot rod. It's now up to you.

Dodge is not competitive and won't be as long as they don't spend some time and money to keep up with the other three, Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota!!! Nothing against Jeremy, it's not his fault!!!

What does Jeremy have to offer a first class team? What does Chip Ganassi have to offer a top driver? The answer to both these questions are the same, nothing! Jeremy is an okay guy but he's too far down the back side of his mountain to ever turn around and reach the peak again in Cup competition. Maybe a middle of the pack truck team. Ganassi is running the wrong make of car and isn't willing or able to put the money into his cup operation to bring it to the level it takes to be competitive with the likes of HMS, Gibbs, and Roush. If after two years behind the wheel, Juan isn't competitive, Jeremy is justing going to be a moving billboard.

You got to be kidding Whoyakidding. I know Jeremy and the last thing he will accept is a moving billboard. He wants to be competitive and if it's not there he may move into an ownership position in one of the other series. Please don't assume that you know how a driver will do if given the opportunity. If any of us were that smart racing wouldn't be any fun. Have a great life.

Sorry, I'm not kidding. It happens to every driver. Jeremy has had some good cars over the years and it was at a time in his life when he was physically the best he'll ever be. He's a nice guy but his 15 minutes in the spotlight in the Cup series are gone. There's none of the teams that can put a winning car on the track next year that still need a driver.

Gosh Whoyakidding, I hoep we're talking about the same guy. Jeremy at his physically best! Let's see now, the last time I spoke with Jeremy he was still on a hard Physical fitness program. His hand shake was like a rock. Ok, He's not Mark Martin but I don't hear anyone downing Mark's physically fitness. You're right Jeremy is a nice guy. OOPs, your way off on 15 minutes of fame. Jeremy was in the spotlight for quite some time before he landed with sub par programs. Ther are a lot of drivers on the track today who wish they could get 15 minutes of fame. I guess you and I can disagree but I like your stand up, tell it like you see it attitude. No kidding I think you could write for one of the major motor sport publications. I'm still pulling for my friend and Kentucky neighbor.

You can catch him in the Busch east series that's the only job he could find.

Go Jeremy...I hope you are in the car at least by Charlotte...many drivers are available, so make the most of your chance, as you did in the test...9th out of 60 cars is a good start!!! L8R. Daniel.

You Mayfield fans need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid, Mayfield is a D+ driver with a bad attitude that is widely known throughout the sport. Now that Sorenson is with a quality team with good equipment he will shine. Mayfield will be lucky to get a ride in the ARCA series.

Alas and Alack, Jeremy never did come back.

I sorta feel sorry for Mayfield and his dozens and dozens of fans, Septembers expectations ran slam against the reality that Jeremy burned too many bridges and is no longer wanted.

Latest news flash, Jeremy is attempting to put together a ride and park team. Jeremy will be another of the occasional qualifiers who ride for 15 laps, park the car and run with the cash. I can hear the announcer now, "Now out on the track for qualifications is Jeremy Mayfield, it will be between him and Morgan Shephard as to who gets the final go or go home spot".

Unfortunately, the present economic conditions tend to lend it's self to their being several that get into the park and ride business this season. I heard a piece on today NASCAR radio where one team had estimated it would cost them 2 million this year to field a car and if they could qualify for all 36 races that could gross 2.8 million for a 43rd finish in every race. Joe Nemecek already owns 2 or 3 COTS and a large shop, car haulers and the basic equipment to run a first class park and ride. The gas is free and if you don't buy but 2 sets of tires, there's money to be made.

I certainly hope all goes well for our "Boy" in the 41, and if I am right, it will! People (like me) are almost always for the UNDERDOG, and Jeremy and his team certainly will qualify for that!(Any one car team is at a severe disadvantage to the multi-car mega-money teams!) Go Jeremy, and show them what you've got...and always had! L8R. Daniel "Denver Dan" Mayfield.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Virgo

This is not a day for sitting still if you can possibly avoid it because it will be a fast track to bad temper and sharp-tongued outbursts. Have plenty of short breaks, go for lots of walks or work up a sweat in the gym in your lunch-hour. If you're driving, keep an eye on the speedometer because it will be very tempting to go too fast and you'll be furious if you're caught.
