I'm proud of Elliott. He could still lose his job to AJ after the year but he showed he can let bygones be bygones.

After the outcome of the Daytona 500, Elliott also proved that HE is the better man!!
He and Reed didn't leave their team member behind for personal glory.

Elliott gave that win away. He wont keep a job like that. He needs to step up to the plate. IMO.

JMO, but I don't think ES gave the win away. He couldn't help the weather. He also can't rule NASCAR.

If anyone saw Windtunnel with DW - he said they could have postponed the ending of the race until Monday but because of media committments,(blah, blah, blah) it just wasn't possible. He seemed a little upset. Again, JMO.

Crappy that NASCAR gave the ruling they did. But, they did do it.

But, the good news is - ES is 5th in points (right now) and that's better than he was a year ago at this time.

He could have put a block on Kenseth and he didn't that sealed his loss.

Thanks Pat...you posted it before I could. Anyway that you look at it...the ruling from NASCAR was a crappy one. I dont know what post it was in, but I agree with what was said...NO other sport calls a game b/c of rain and not pick it back up next day.

To steal an analogy from another poster, Could you imagine if the Superbowl was called in the 3rd quarter and not finished? The last game of the World Series had rain and if it would've been called and not picked up the next day, My beloved Phillies wouldnt be World Champions!

I think, IMO, that particular rule is stupid. The fans get cheated out the most in that. The fans pay their hard earned $$'s and dont get exactly what they pay for when it rains and a race is called. The drivers still get paid, they may miss out on track position, but they still get paid.

Sorry, JMO & that particular ruling irritates me!

The only influence Petty has on this race team is the use of his namesake.

Petty is part owner at gillett so its more than a namesake on the front door.

Petty is actually in the garage's talking to them and helping them. George has only been in the garage maybe 5 times since he bought the team. Plus it never hurts to have Richard Petty giving you advice

If Petty had his way WallDinger would be in Elliott's car right now. Richard is just another minority owner for this race team, just ask Ray how that worked out for him? I wonder though why all the hubub because looking at the success of the Petty organization over the past ten years, I would not be overly wanting his advice. There is a reason why he had to sell his team.

If I were a driver, I'd want to be driving for Gibbs, Childress, Rousch or Hendrick..otherwise, I'd also be taking night classes in something else and have a strong "plan B"--way things are right now.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
