Of the five reported to have rejected invitations, this article says Kurt Busch will be able to attend after all.

Other reports say that Greg Biffle clarifies he is not rejecting the invitation, he is declining due to a schedule conflict. He is right - there is a difference.

Tony would not elaborate on his schedule conflict but also respectfully declined. Both Biffle and Stewart have accepted previous invitations to meet this president.

Sports reporters need to just report the facts, and they can not substantiate any politically motivated reasons, but they think their suppositions make their articles more interesting. That's not reporting - that's rumors they would like to start.

Why did Obama have to invite the Chase drivers from LAST season??? Why not wait and invite once this season's Chasers are set? And don't forget, Obama was invited to a NASCAR race and he declined. So, is that not tit for tat??? No one should have to explain why they didn't go. It's obvious this invite is nothing but a vote grab. Besides, I doubt Obama would know a splitter from a rear wing.

indeed,, he could...but he would not be among friends,,race fans being patriotic Americans...Tony had a scheduling conflict,, he was at a fan autograph session at an Office Depot,, planned at the beginning of the season.. why on God's Green Earth would he go to DC when he needed to be there for his sponsor and his FANS??
