DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-Tony Stewart apparently won his fight with track owner Brett Morris at Australia's Parramatta City Raceway earlier this month, but the fiery NASCAR driver wasn't celebrating.

In fact, he still was despondent about it a week later.

Stewart was back in the U.S. for last week's test session at the Daytona International Speedway, but he was still troubled that an argument before a race on a dirt track escalated into a brawl.

"I'm definitely not proud of what happened, and if I had to do it all over again, I would have dealt with it much different," Stewart said. "But we had been over there for almost five weeks, and we had been dealing with the same problem with the race track, so it wasn't something that was just one incident that led up to it. It was a combination of the whole trip."

The fight reportedly started when Stewart complained about the track conditions. Stewart threw his helmet at Morris, witnesses said, and the track owner threw a punch. Both men threw several other punches, landing Stewart in an Aussie jail and Morris on the schedule to have his broken eye socket surgically repaired later this week.

After Stewart gave a statement at jail and was forced to briefly cool off in a holding cell, he was allowed to fly home. If Australian authorities want to talk to him again - or file charges - he said he would cooperate.

Morris hasn't talked with the police yet, and until he does the case remains under investigation.

"I'm not concerned about it," Stewart said. "If there is and we have to go back, we'll deal with it. But it's nothing that we're concerned with at this point. I mean, like I said, when they were done with us, they said we were able to go back to the hotel and were able get on our flight and come back. I made sure that they knew exactly where we were staying, when our flight was, what the flight number was and how to get a hold of us the whole time.

Boys will indeed be boys, but there are penalties when 1 boy hits another boy with a helmet (if the reports on this incident are true.) If you want to be a boy than come unarmed, because when you use a weapon, that whole, boys will be boys thing, goes right out the window. Than it becomes assault. It's pretty easy to win a fight when only one boy is armed.

I think that's part of the reason Tony is embarrassed about this whole incident. The helmet hitting Brett was probably unintentional,(I hope it was anyway) but that's the risk you take when you do things like that. I give him credit for owning up to it though and not trying to avoid addressing the incident. He has to make smarter choices in these situations. We've definitely seen Tony become much smarter about how he approaches things that anger him, unfortunately, this wasn't a prime example of being smart. Had he just thrown a couple of punches this wouldn't have been that big of a deal I think. It probably would have gotten some press, but not nearly what it ended up getting.

You would think Morris's attorney would be posting pics of the eye injury to show how injured he is. To make his case...I have yet to see a pic post helmet incident. In an efforet to show seriousness of the injury and the pain and suffering Mr Morris is suffering. Wonder if Arnig told him they would pay the bills and take care of him( significant $$$) if he shuts the heck up.

According to the last out of Australia from Morris he was advised to keep quiet by his attorneys about the case and save it for the trial if there is to be one.

Probably a wise move. It is for a jury to decide and they want all the cards in their corner.(at this point they do) and Morris may say something that would take that away. i think it is curious that Rush said in an interveiw it was just a tiff between two racers...nothing more. If Morris was that hurt would he not say it was something more...and toss some support for his car/track co-owner.? Maybe he doesn't want to take sides or sever a realationship that he has with both of them.

Maybe Rush was told to not say more than that by the attorneys too.

Well I doubt Tony will let it go to court unless he has something about all this that none of us knows..(like he can prove morris was about to hit him or did hit him first OR that Morris had a weapon too and he defended himself and the press choose not report it)NOT THAT THAT MAKES IT RIGHT IN ANY WAY! But might make a judge feel the field was more level and not as heinous as it has been portrayed right or wrong in the press.

He will just pay him off and move on.

they said minor surgery...I would be surprised if he gets that much. I think you are seeing his injuries as being much more serious than they were. I do not think he hit him as hard as you think he did... you have used the words bashed him in the face. I see it as he hit him but he didn't bash him. He did not even loose consiousness. One person described it as he had a red mark. It doesnt take much to fracture an eyesocket. The bones are thin....you can really do it with a sissy hit.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
