"Dale, you are 35 years of age, if it was going to happen, it would have happened by now. You have had the best of everything when it comes to racing except for the personal ability behind the wheel and to be able to understand the basics of race cars and what it takes to make them better during races."
I wonder if Mark Martin would agree with that..... |

blame everthing and everybody but the one how drives the car funny tierd of him crying all the time biggest wiener in nascar |

Leave Hendrick Dale. Go to a smaller team that is all about racing, not making money off of you. I mean why would a team owner take the biggest star of Nascar and put him in crap all year-something smells bad, real bad.

He was very upbeat about the whole situation two weeks ago at Kansas. He was very excited about Lance and wanted him back, so I am just thinking he woke up on the wrong side of the bed???? He says Lance makes him a better driver, so if he makes you better, why would you want to get rid of him??? We all have days where it seems worse then it really is. I truly think yesterday was one of Junior's days.

1 Hey Idiot. Jr is not driving crap, he's in the best equipment in the business, the "crap" is in the drivers seat of the 88 car. Hendrick has done all he can to help Jr realize his dream of winning a championship, but Jr is all about partying. In the article you can see Junior's attitude (and the problem) just by reading the quotes spoken by Junior himself. He says, "I still like coming to the track" rather than, I still like RACING. In another quote Jr says of the new crew chief, that he's "fun to hang out with" not that he enjoys WORKING with the guy. Notice how Jr is revealing that he's really there for the party atmosphere and working at racing is not the top priority for him? Perhaps that is why he doesn't perform well, he just wants to get the race over with so he can go "hang out" with the guys and party. |

1 You are gifted with selective reading ability, Martin had done much more by the time he was 35 than Joonyer has, check Martin's ASA record, wins and all the time driving for the second tier ford team. At the time Martin spent most of his time with Roush, Robert Yates was seen as the primier ford team. Joonyer's real problem is that he has not progressed in the last four years, if anything he has digressed as a driver. At the present time Joonyer is beginning to question his own ability as a driver and wondering why he is qualifying in the 30s when his team mates are mostly in the top ten, they all have access to the same infromation that is shared with all the Hendrick drivers. People, you do not wish to address the real problem, how many of the championship caliber drivers had so much outside interest when they were attempting to establish themselves as consistant winners and a threat for a championship? Which of the other three Hendrick current drivers had a "Boys Town" by the name of Whisky River? How many of the other three were on TV every week on a show like "Back in the day"? Four time champion Jeff Gordon never had the outside distractions, three time champion Jimmy Johnson never had the outside distractions, ultimate pro driver Mark Martin never had the dirsractions. Only TV clowns like Mikey Waltrip and Kenny Wallace act like Joonyer, all three spending more time on TV exposure than learning to win at the upper levels of NASCAR. I know I will get bashed by many, however, please attempt to bash the facts, not the messenger. |

1 You're right, Jeff, Jimmy, Tony and many others put their efforts into charities that benefit families and cure diseases, such as Jeff Gordon's children's cancer hospital. Then we got Junior, the bar owner. His outside interest is to build a bar to encourage alcohol addiction and destroy families and kill people with disease and drunk driving. What a stand-up guy our Junior is. Problem is...the NASCAR connection will only buy you so much outside publicity...there comes a time where your lack of performance on the track starts to hinder your marketability off the track. |

1 No personal attacks please. Anybody who thinks Nascar is not about the bling is an idiot. |

1 That's okay for the fans, but if you're a driver you really need to take the "racing" part much more seriously than Jr does. |

1 Anita, Joonyer might be a star for the media and the nation, however, the actual results of his career have been very average at best. From 2001 to 2004 DEI had plate cars so superior that even a hack driver like Michael Waltrip could win and consistantly run up front. There was much speculation inside of NASCAR that there could be something a little on the grey area going on, the official word I received from a company that set up rears for DEI was that they had found a secret in hanging bodies on superspeedway cars. Take the plate wins away and you cut his victories in half and in the past four years he has not progressed any as a driver, either in being able to qualify, verbalize problems to two crew chiefs or pull off great pit stops. Joonyer has had the best equipment money could buy since he came into cup racing and has not utilized it to it's fullest. Now he is on the most high powered team in Cup racing and is very much the weak link. Even Joonyer has that "Whipped Puppy" look lately and only over zelous fans like you continue to make excuses for his obvious lacking in ability, to this point. Joonyer does not seem to be a bad guy, however, he is obviously not quite as good as the top of the line cup drivers who week in, week out, outshine him both in qualification and end of race results. |

1 I still maintain that for whatever reason, loss of focus, stubborness or whatever, he can't drive the COT or figure out how to get that car to handle his driving style. Plus I don't think he has the ability to communicate how the car feels. But another thing is his physical fitness. He seems to tire and lose concentration half way through the longer races. Regardless of how races were won in the old days, being physically fit is now very important in Nascar. |

^IMO, Childress would have been worse. No he wouldn't have had Mark, Jimmie, and Jeff over his head but he would have had one worse-his father.

Jr looks like he's getting ready to head for Whiskey River.
