Malaysia’s Barisan Nasional, or national ruling coalition, has gone to extreme ends to control freedom of expression and monopolize the dissemination of information, according to the Kuala Lumpur-based Center for Independent Journalism.

Wow!.... satu kata "REVOLUSI!!!"...

malaysian press might be filled with government propaganda but we decide for ourselves which one is true, rumour or pure propaganda.

unlike the ndons who believe everything without thinking twice...

so how can anyone in their right mind say that my statements conforms to ourselves? it just show your bigotry and ignorance...

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Nobody consider media as the truth, in fact, some people are fed up with the media .

Having said that, Indonesian media has been enjoying the very essence of press which is the Freedom of Press. Regrettably, freedom of press do not hold true for malaysia, thus basically, malaysian doesn't have any press whatsoever, for the very essence of the press has been taken away by the repressive government. Nevertheless, most malaysian tend to accept it due to their ignorance and chicken mentality. Shame on you.

"Guided democracy, guided freedom." This is what we have in malaysia. we can praise the government, but forbidden to criticise it. My beloved country - malaysia. Some issues catagorised as " sensitive " when it is about race and religion, but about certain race and religion only. That is what we call "1MALAY-SIA'.

what is the freedom of press? to slander, spread lies and hatred freely? if you are still adamant that we tend to accept whatever that was thrown to us by our press due to our ignorance, how abt the indonesians who tend to believe the slander, lies and hate-sowing issue published by the indonesian press? isn't it due to ignorance and irrationality??

shame on you too...

Your definition about freedom of press is totally incorrect, maybe it's because you tend to believe everything thrown by your govt which is known to always slander other countries.
Freedom of press is the freedom of expression through various media without interference and should be enjoyed by the media in every free society. Some might abuse the privilege, but that's not an excuse to reduce it to something as pathetic as lousy government propaganda.
On any given day and at any given time, there always will be someone, somewhere abusing something, be it love, money sex, or freedom of press. Use your brain not your ignorance.

i thought i already told you that i dun believe anything that was written in the Malaysian newspapers without searching/confirming the related facts 1st. so do most of us malaysians

yes, there will always be an abuse of freedom of press, but do you have to condone the blatant abuse of the freedom of press on a regular basis just to protect that freedom?

if you really want to protect and value freedom of press, you should also stop your media from abusing it. the difference between malaysians and indonesians press is malaysian press are controlled by the government but the indonesians press are out of control as they tend to report something that is not true just to increase their circulation.

use your eyeball man, not your 'ball-ball'.

one more thing, i never gave a definition on freedom of press. i know what it is. if you read deeply, you'll understand that i'd only wanted to imply that indonesians press have gone too far in their abuse of 'freedom of press'. isn't that what they did in the name of 'freedom of press'? so stop chiding me on something i didn't do. that is the 2nd time that you did that. if you do it again, i might have to categorized you as 'idiot' or 'shallow' for taking my comments out of context on a regular basis.

What do you mean by Indonesians press have gone too far in their abuse of freedom of press ? Can you show the example? You're just making it up. Indonesian media has always been very critical and careful as any misleading information can be brought to the court of law.
On the other hand, government controlled media is the most blatant abuse of the freedom of press.
The difference between Indonesian and Malaysian press is that Indonesian press enjoy the freedom of press while malaysian are heavily controlled by the govt thus almost anything that comes out of it cannot and never will be considered as very reliable.
