This is the same old crap. When are we going to see that Mexico is nothing but a corrupt and uneducated country. Remember there is always the exception. We need to start using force back and lets see how they feel. I bet they will go and cry about it. They act like third world bullies until the big boys come and push back then they run like little girls.

What's deal here? Does the Marine Corps allow active duty troops to trapse aross the border? Again, to reiterate too why do ppl insist on going to Mexico. Must be a death wish.

Some of the people who go down, are between 18 and 21. So they can drink and party, where they can't in California and most of the US.

For sure he crossed the border to get some drugs, as some of the Marines and sailors have been doing so since the Korean war from the San diego Base, maybe this is a secret for you guys but this is not a secret in Mexico. Or maybe is one of the 50 marines and sailors (taken from the 600 who were investigated) processed by cooperating with the Arellano Felix DTO.

They have those check points on just about every road, mostly close to the state lines. If you go into California you stop at a check point, they ask you if you have any fruits or vegies, you say "no" and thats it. Pretty much the same thing here except here they carry AR15's all the time and are army, not CHP's. Many times I have come on one that had recently moved and it was hard to tell if you should stop or not. This may have been an innocent mistake on the American's part.

like everybody in the us knows about whats going on in mexico with all the killings their just doing routing checks, & he knew that ofcourse that wasent his first time over the border or was it? so ask yourself why did he try to bypass it by speeding threw it instead of stopping like everyone else that was ask too. I bet that thers something else too it dont you think so, instead of trying to make it a bigger issue than what it should be?

In the Mexican army check points there are signs since at least 300 meters and they read that you have to slow down because of the proximity of the military check point, in the Mexican border states this signs are in both english and spanish language. 50 meters before the check point there is a soldier with a flag; he is the one who gives you the signal to get into the revision space of the check point or to go ahead. Piece of cake. By the way rogerg Mexican army doesn't carry AR15s since this is not a military weapon. That's usually used by the mexican police.

the same would have happened in the US. if someone tried getting through the border, US Customs or boarder patrol would have shot them .... LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO.... the US military does the same thing.... you people need to shut up... the soldiers did their job

Why goto Mexico to get shot at by the police, you can run a checkpoint in San Diego and get the same shooting without the federal charges.

So if a stupid marine speeds at a military check point its the soldiers fault right, it ass nothing to do with a guy trying to skip a MILITARY check point. The Mexicans soldiers had to guess oh it is just another stupid American (and here I have to apology to the rest of the Americans) that thinks that ca do whatever he wants in Mexico and not a criminal or a drug-cartel gunman trying to runaway. I agree to Mango if there was a military check point or a police check point in the USA wouldnt I expect the same treatment?

When I was in the military we were discouraged from crossing the border but I did any way. Why are military even permitted to cross the border in this day and age. The Marine screwed up and broke Mexican law. I ask why should the military and consulate be concerned with this idiot? I feel he should be classified UA, AWOL or Deserter pending the time he is away from duty.

The USMC is running a close 2nd with the U.S. Army in accepting some of the dumbest, lowest-intelligence enlistees known to mankind. Looks like this dumb a-z-z is just carrying on the legacy, so why should anyone be surprised that an E3 is up to no-good down in frick'n Mexico at 0400 hours? He's just another embarrassment to the Marine Corps. Trust me, the Corps will not take any steps to get a lowly Lance Corporal out of Mexican custody, regardless of his active-duty status. This a-z-z-h-o-l-e is on his own, and his family will have to work directly with the Mexican Consolate and Mexican law enforcement authorities to spring his dumb a-z-z from custody. By then, he will have been long AWOL, and will be facing certain charges by the Corps; most likely a discharge of a less-than-honorable status. I'm sure his parent are mighty proud of him right now. He'll be back home soon, returning to his loser fast-food or gas station job in Oklahoma before long.

Such military checkpoints are situated every 50 miles or so throughout every major highway in the country, and it is protocol for the soldiers to fire at any non-official vehicle that races on through them without stopping. Last year on a highway checkpoint in central Mexico, two Mexican nationals were shot in their pickup truck for refusing to stop.
The checkpoints among other things help deter Middle Eastern terrorists from entering the U.S., undocumented Central American migrants, and make the transportation of contraband more difficult.
Later on we may find out why this Marine didnīt stop. He was probably drunk or perhaps had contraband in his vehicle, although no mention of that has yet been made by the authorities to the media.
If he didnīt have contraband, then he wonīt spend much time in jail and will be deported.
U.S. marines and sailors that are imprisoned for any length in time in Baja California are visited bi-weekly by USN Shore Patrol personnel. The Mexican government allows them to drive their shore patrol vehicle in uniform to the jail or prison to tend to the prisonerīs basic needs.

Tj newspapers have been reporting since yesterday, that he was carrying a Bullet Proof vest and four AR-15 cartridges (a favorite with the Narcos). However these comments have not been confirmed.

OK I read a lot of these post an the majority of you have no clue. I was station at Camp Pen during the 80's and most recently from 2001-2004. Mexico is a place were young marine go to blow off steam because they can drink there and their buck goes alot further. To sit here and read some of these post are sad , do not condemn him because he was there problably visiting a girlfriend. A lot of Marines and Sailors go back and forth in to Mexico and nothing happens. This si just one who I think was trying to get back for morning formation. IF he had clips he is in the wrong because he is suppose to turn that back into the Armory prior to leaving the base. So DAGO, please hold off your comments on calling someone a dumb ass when you yourself are not involved in the case.
