I cannot afford to drive into Tijuana for cheaper gas. There is a chance I might get shot, paying 4.00 gallon does not seem to bad after all.

Only an idiot would make a trip across the frick'n border, expressly to buy gasoline. You rarely see lines as short as 20 minutes, and only a dummy would go late at night, just to try to save upwards of $30.00. I'm sorry, but that wait is way too long for the little return-on-the-investment in exchange.

What a bunch of dimwits. GREAT, so San Diego county will be more polluted than it is now with all these cars running around here on that cheap dirty un-regulated PEMEX gas. No one has ever addressed all the mexican cars that race across SD county belching those noxious fumes on a daily basis. Hey Arnold, so much for your wimpy fuel emission plans for the state. What a joke!

Oh you crazy Americans. If you start changing your driving habits the 6$ price of gas (coming your way soon) is not going to make a difference.

America, the next third world

Take the advice of a native San Diegan who has lived in Tijuana for 18 years:

PEMEX regular unleaded 87 octane, which in U.S. dollars and gallons is currently $2.75 a gallon as Consumer Bob reported, has a high concentration of sulpher, which if used to fill up continuously, can in time clog up your carbarator or fuel injectors, which is why its important to apply carberator cleaner to your carberator occasionally, or if you have fuel injection, to put liquid fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank periodically.

PEMEX premium unleaded 91 octane is low in sulpher and worth spending the extra 25¢ a gallon.(Its currently $3.00 a gallon. Its thus cleaner and provides better performance on engines with a lot of mileage.

PEMEX prices are somewhat cheaper in the interior of Mexico than they are in Baja and the northern border region.

PEMEX does not put as many additives in the gasoline as do the American refineries, and you will find that you get better mileage with the 89 octane Plus gasoline that is sold at gas stations in the U.S. than PEMEX 91 octane premium. However, with the current price of Plus, it is more economical right now to use PEMEX premium in spite of not getting as good a gas mileage out of it as American 89 octane Plus.

It is actually more economical for PEMEX to import crude oil from the U.S. to Baja California than it is to ship PEMEX crude to Baja from the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, the PEMEX fuel that you fill up with in Baja is actually a Standard Oil crude base that is shipped down by ocean freighter from San Pedro, CA to the PEMEX refinery in Rosarito Beach.

One last tip: PEMEX 87 regular is dispensed from the green nozzle and is referred to as "la verde" when informing the gas station attendant of which grade of gasoline you want. PEMEX 91 premium is dispensed from the red nozzle and is referred to as "la roja"(ro-ha).

Back in the 1930"s Mexico had the foresight to nationalize its oil industry so the price increases actually benefit the whole country as opposed to here where the oil companies are making windfall profits.

On Mother's Day 1990 I got jacked for $250 by the Federalis. That was my last trip to Mexico. There is nothing there that I need or want. I wouldn't care if their gas was a nickle a gallon. There's already enough of our dollars crossing the border.

There is nothing worth going to Tijuana for - unless you want to get shot!

If gas continues to go up and I simple can't afford to drive to work 5 days week, I will take public transportation before I would step foot into Mexico for cheap gas.

La Raza backed politicians must be swept out of office. Sanctuary is only for legal immigrants, and Americans. Support only those who will take a stand---NO MORE ILLEGALS!!! The group "Immigrant Rights" is only for the benefit of illegals. The United States Constitution has sufficient protections and rights for immigrants willing to be here legally, we have NO room for criminals and lawbreakers.

I believe it has more to do with the restrictions that our government puts on refineries and the product that they produce. Mexico does not have near the stringent environmental laws that we do and thus don't require their refineries to make a cleaner burning gas.

All gringos think that they do not need mexicans to make this country run smooth.Without us is no tomatos, oranges and nobody is gonna work for the minimum like we do,every body else prefer to go to welfare instead and sell drugs,in a few years you will see that we are needed and that we do not collect welfare like the gringos.

Before illegal immigration was an issue back in the 60's and 70's I never had a problem getting lettuce, tomatoes, or oranges.

As far as your welfare point goes that is a program designed for AMERICANS paid for by AMERICANS.

Yeah, but you sell plenty of drugs and fill up all the street gangs. Good job. That's exactly what we need.</sarcasm>
